I don’t think age neceaasrily has anything to do with health of a pilot. I have read of younger airline pilots dying with heart problems and encountered people in their 80s who have been in perfect health. It should all depend on the overall health of the individual, and not purely their age.
Ostend?!!! Well, OK, they did an effort the last 5 years to reshape the city but the Belgian Coast is not worth visiting. I know, I’ve lived there. There are better places to go to beaches, in France and the Netherlands
Compared to the place I live in on the English coast, Oostende is like Utopia, believe me! I know where I would rather live. And I agree that some places in Belgium are better off not visited, but rough areas in Belgium are like models of civility compared to rough places in England, I’ve experienced both.
Mini Europe is OK, there are some eating places around it as well, and there is a place near Brugge where they have a dolphin show which your children might like. Shops in Belgium are alot better than here, why do you think I have to visit Brussels several times a year to shop for beer ? (Not that I’m complaining because it gets me extra flights as well 😀 ) Prices in Belgium are cheaper than the UK too.
It depends what you are looking for. I like Belgium for the good food, the chance to enjoy my favourite beer in a bar without having my eardrums shattered by live singers, karaoke or yobs yelling at TV screens. There are bars in Belgium which are just like the good old English pub, and hell of alot better than what you find over here. I also like the architecture of the towns, they are pretty and great to photograph. Also it was nice to go out in Brugge at night and not see dross hanging around, smashing things up and yelling, much nicer than Scarborough (I hate this place you might guess!) You feel much safer in Brugge than anywhere in England.
And I have met some great people from the aviation enthusiast community in Belgium – went spotting last year with a group from Luchtzak and Airliners.net. I cannot imagine going anywhere else for my holidays because I can really relax when I go to Belgium, and live the kind of live I want to live, just for 10 days out of 365.
There is only one place to drink Sloeber outside – Oudenaarde (its home town!) There are nice cafes on the Markt which sell that beauty and let you sit out and drink it. Don’t know where you can drink Sloeber in Brugge and sit outside, you can drink inside at ‘t Brugs Beertje. In Brussels, go to Mini Europe in Heysel area, great for kids and loads of good models of landmarks. You can’t go up the magnificent Atomium becuase it’s shut until March 2006. I was in beloved Brussels last week and wish I’d never left 🙁 I have to wait until September now to go back to Belgium.
Oostende is a great place, better than any English seaside resort (take that from a Scarborough resident). Blankenberge is also nicer than Scarborough.
Dinant is great – a clifftop citadel and gorgeous location, you can have river cruises. That’s in the Ardennes. Spa is great too. Hasselt is a nice town in Limburg, Kortrijk is pretty, Tournai is beautiful. Ins hort, you can never run out of beautiful places to visit in Belgium, and you can drink all the best beer in the world as well 😀
Sloeber rules!!!
Here’s mine – the selection of beers I brought back from Brussels in November. I had my latest beer shopping trip last week and got some beauties (all Belgian of course 😀 )
Great news for BHX 😀 Hope to see this one when I’m there in September.
Go BHX 😀

Thanks to Amnesty International, and repellent organisations like them (such as Liberty), the rights and quality of life for law-abiding British people have decreased dramatically, whilst the rights of the criminal scum they are so fond of championing, have increased ten fold.
People scared to leave their houses because the yobs who terrorise them must not be denied their right to liberty. People murdered by re-offending criminals who should have been executed rather than released (sorry, forgot, mustn’t violate the right to life of a criminal must we?)
Up in arms because three IRA terrorist scum get what’s coming to them in Gibraltar. Would Amnesty International have been so incensed if the IRA had succeeded in panting a bomb and killed hundreds? You bet they wouldn’t.
Demonstrating in support of the terrorist al Qaeda sh*te at Guantanamo Bay, they didn’t take to the streets to sympathise with the thousands killed on 9/11 did they?
Going on about the British and Americans treating criminals like the sh*te they are in the Iraqi jails, but not a murmur about the innocent hostages whose beheading was often videoed and shown on the internet and Arab TV.
No, I cannot feel any sympathy for someone who is responsible for the culture of criminal rights in this country today.
Burn in hell criminal loving Amnesty scum.
The attitudes of some airlines to VAs is pathetic. A vitrual airline is hardly going to make vast profits using the airline’s name and logo is it?
Airlines like British Airways, Flybe and SN Brussels are to be commended for their positive attitude towards their virtual counterparts.
Nice shots, but shame to see Balkan bringing an A320 instead of their 154.

I am very surprised that there is no bmi VA, I looked for one myself because I like bmi’s routes and wanted to fly them in FS.
Also I looked for bmi baby but couldn’t find that either 🙁
