While I feel sorry for the man’s injuries, I have to say that anyone who regards wild animals as accessories to perform tricks really asks for this sort of thing. Tigers are not there to perform, I object strongly to any kind of performing animal.

I hope the tiger will not be destroyed.

I would say the Comet disasters. From the subsequent investigation came the knowledge of the metal fatigue problem which influenced the design of future aircraft.

And the fact that the Comet was the world’s first passenger jet, it was the Comet which operated the first service by passenger jet which broke up above Elba and was taken to Farnborough for testing which led to the knowledge of metal fatigue, makes this a very interesting subject.

I once did a study on the story of the Comet from the drawing board to the final passenger flight in 1980, and it was extremely interesting.

I have two Sabena timetables, two Sabena in flight magazines, a Sabena serviette, a Sabena chocolate wrapper, a VLM hand wipe (wrapped of course), two VLM serviettes, a VLM chocolate wrapper. Three Sabena models. A Concorde souvenir kit. My log book which I was given as a British Airways young flyer when I was five (with the registration and type of aircraft a Boeing 747-100).

As the proud owner of a PS2, I can assure you that you don’t need to buy a remote to use the console for DVDs, the controller will work the DVD functions for you, I should know as I use my PS2 to watch DVDs!
The PS2 is also the best one because you have access to many more games than the X-Box owing to the backwards compatibility with the PSOne. The controller of the PS2 is also better to handle than the controller of the X-Box (my cousin has an X-Box so I’ve tried that).

Also, you only get one “Silent Hill” game on X-Box, on PS2 there are four – Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 2 Director’s Cut and Silent Hill 3. Silent Hill is the best game series anywhere, on any console, better than Grand Theft Auto.

Mort Subite is a nice beer. It’s sweeter than other lambics (such as Cantillon for example) and easier to obtain. I enjoy the Gueuze and Frambozen varieties most.

That’s interesting Old Git, I spent my holiday in Mechelen (wonderful place if you excuse all the dug up roads and squares!!) and the brewery there is Het Anker, it brews Gouden Carolus, which is a good beer. I couldn’t find anything about La Mort in any of my books.

Thanks for all your comments everyone. I had a great time, weather was good, apart from a thunderstorm on the Saturday!
A330Crazy – I don’t mind being entered in your spotting competition, it was nice to go and do some spotting, I never normally get chance!
Kev – I’m glad you liked the London photos, taking off from LCY offers some great views, and the approach does too, if you land at the end nearest to the terminal you see the London Eye, Big Ben etc very close!
Old Git – that Sloeber beer is rare, even in Belgium. I brought some back to drink at Christmas. Maybe the beer you are thinking of is Mort Subite?

My return flight from Antwerp to London City (VG111) was on 10th September.

Antwerp is a dead and alive airport, with one eating place, one shop, no duty free, no viewing area!!

My flight was operated by OO-VLS “City of Manchester”. I was in seat 4A, and had a good view of the propellers and landing gear. The aircraft didn’t have leather seats. We had quite alot of cloud on this flight. The crew were good.

The approach into London City was superb, with the aircraft going into a characteristic Fokker nose-dive approach over the River Thames, the pilot pulling up at the last minute to land smoothly on the runway of London City.
