as the indians, do have M2000 and Mig-29, i wander how hard will it be to adapt the RDY-2 to the Mig-29, it seems that is better than any radar the russians can come up with (to date) in the category, sure the software is one issue among others, and will be expensive for sure, but it feels that the Mig-29 will be just awesome with that kinda’ electronics, ain’t it? 😉

only 4 FAE Kfirs were upgraded to Kfir 2000 (or CE = the same) no more were done due to lack of funds, and it was done in the year 2000

i’ve read at airdisaster that it was too hot (weather) and too heavy, wich clearly says…poor airmanship 😮 i wander about company policy  too bad for the crews, but more than poor maintenance, i believe the 2 first factors are the cause.

yep, the HIP is the most produced helo of all times, in 1997 i’ve heard that 12,000 were already produced, and its still in production, i’ve flown as a passenger several times and i did love it, pretty smoth machine 🙂

the problem with assimetric thrust , as you said is not absurd, but at the same time is not a situation that will make such an airplane crash, on the contrary, it will only be annoying (i’m not sure my spelling is correct 😮 ), i have routinely seen 4 engined aircraft (707 in this case) practicing overshoots with only the 2 engines on one side (the opposite idling) and then the other 2, at that altitude you can clearly see the smokey pair and the wild rudder deflection.
what i mean is that a failure on any engine at anytime will not cause the airplane to crash, not even on take-off, it will have to be a major pilot screw up to do so, it doesnt take much skill to get out of that kind of trouble.
remember, the fact that the B-52 has 8 engines is only because the engine of choice at the time (JT3) did not meet the thrust requirement and at the time it was the most powerful, it had nothing to do with safety whatsoever, they wanted a thrust that no engine was producing at the time.
it is history proven that the engines are the aircraft part most difficult to create and its also the engine that dictates when an airplane will die (no more parts, sorry) you can see that today with the mighty L-1011, wich is facing now that sad end…just because of the engines (the old RB211-22B and -524).

    about re-motoring…
the engines from the 777? thats just crazy way too big, it just wouldnt fit so forget it.
the RB-211-535 is the engine of choice, lets see why:
each JT3 on the B-52 gave 18,000 pounds of thrust when new (who knows today), this equals to 36,000 pounds of thrust per pylon and the corresponding fuel consumption.
the RB-211 gives 40,000 pounds of thrust, and its size will perfectly fit on the pylon (1 per pylon), wich will total 16,000 more pounds of thrust per aircraft, with about 20% less fuel burn, so inmediatelly you are having more range for the same amount of fuel, and even more because you have to throttle back to have the same performance (climb power, cruise speed etc) and the savings in maintenance are just awesome, just look at it, 4 instead of 8, really reliable, less frequent visits to the shop and less work to do per engine, just change oil filters, and look around for trouble (never found any significant trouble on the -535 on my career)
if the yanks are smart, this will prove it. 😉
to me is viable to do so.

it wouldnt make sense, to have a Vulcan travel all that distance only with sidewinders, i have read before that they were attacking argentinian radars, so the shrike would make sense, also, to me no matter what sidewinder you put on a Vulcan…its still a sitting GOOSE for me (much bigger than a sitting duck) 😀

kool vids man, i didnt know the F-15 was equipped with “the radar love” 😀
also, i think i saw a Mig-29 outmaneouvering the F-15? about a fraction of a second? (the Mig going vertical while the F-15 was going down?)
whatever it is, all vids are kool 😉
what i did at home is, get all videos from fabulous fulcrums, glue them together in order (take-off, climb, maneouvering, firing and going home for landing, and as for the music i did it with feuer frei (ramstein), about 6 megs, but its only on my computer (copyrights, i never asked for permission to anybody)
if somebody wants it for personal use, it’ll be my pleasure to send it by e-mail. 😉

The idea of re-motoring the mighty B-52 with the RB211-535 was a very good one, but i haven’t heard about for a while, its a fine engine and sure would give better performance.

thanks aerospacetech, now i see clear,
i wish we can see that kind of performance on a Mig-29 radar, but sure will have to wait (like captain star 😀 waiting for his orders from mission control)
tell me please, wich production rusian radar will compare to the APG68V9? i’d say Zhuk MSF but as far as i know its still not inproduction
    thanks again

    to goldendragon

    hello goldendragon
about the steel alloy i think you’re right, there’s one alloy called INCONEL, made specially for really hot 😡 temperatures and if i remember correctly contains nickel and chrome (but in higher qty’s) like the one used on combustion chambers etc.
hell it was more that 20 years ago when i read that.
