even if Brasil buys F-16’s from hell, lockheed will still be selling spares and the US will still give them amraams, there was never any trouble between the US and Brasil, to me Brasil will be much better with the combo F-16/amraam

the arguments about the Su-35…to me the only system still to be developed for the Su-35 was CUSTOMERS, nothing else. 😉

    dear flex
    nice site with awesome pics.
but the question remains the same (like the song? 😎 )
what have they done to their Migs?
new radar?, new EW suite? HOTAS?, Databus on all pylons?
    i have to know, i’m itching…

    i agree my dear flex.
but i would even go a little farther than that…
if FAB wants something better, they could ask to get the RDI upgraded to fire MICA’s and then get much “hotter” than the actual M2k-C/RDI 😉
    just my 2 cents idea.

i think we are talking M2k-C, with the old RDI surplus from l’armee de l’air, for that price.
just recently, they’ve ask 450 millon US dollars to “upgrade” 12 M2kP (Peruvian Air Force) to -5 😮
way too expensive to my standards.

now, suppose that the indian air force has its way and gets the Bars-29 for their Mig-29’s, how much are they gonna pay?, for example, i’ve heard by rumours that the APG-73 and the RDY are at about 7 millions (us dollars) each 😮
i just hope the Bars wont be that expensive, again…any ideas?

ok brother, let’s do it just for the fun 😉
first, the Il-76 as we know has a max payload of 40T, ok? (but imagine any mil carco a/c. 😉
now, as you go in, you’ll see a huge cabin, so imagine it full of seats and cosmetics, about 3T weight?, so you are down to 37T, now you’ll see that huge empty area above your head, the cabin being at least twice your size tall, but no place fot your bags ’cause there’s no cargo compartment, so lets divide the cabin in 2 levels, as airliners do, the upper for the pax and the cargo below the floor, so from nose to tail imagine yourself with about 5T more in structural parts, so now you are down to 32T payload,
now, are you still gonna use the aft doors?, with the new floor i dont think you can, so lets close it for good, about 2T more in mods to re-shape the tail and adding a pressure bulkhead in the back, so now you are down to about 30T payload, and a few zillion dollars 😀 overbudget and still looks like hell, and still you have to spend a few zillion more to get it aproved…
lets just buy an A-310 for cheap and fly the hell out of it 😎

    hi nonpilot 🙂
about those radars i’m not sure, lets ask the avionic gurus in here.
and as for the 69 Camaro, yes, the one with the 427 ZL-1 engine… my favorite as well 😎

    good one george 😀
but in fact let me tell you what i’ve done… (this is true)
    i bought a 1987 Camaro with a busted crappy v6 2.8 engine 5speed tranny…
now my babe is a powered by a 350ci (5.7L) 341HP, 5 speed tranny (for V8) with 1 5/8 headders and a 3 inch pipe followed by a Dynomax super turbo muffler, yes, i did replace the engine and tranny mounts for a set of energy suspention red polymers (among some other upgrades), and it kicks ass 😎 , sorry i still use the old sound system, one cool thing, i did overhaul the engine myself (at home). it was hard work but far from impossible and it was FUN.
the same applies for the aircraft, sure you have to see which one is worth the mod, for sure, but if they want to upgrade their old Migs, they could do so in a manner in wich they will have “max comonnality” or as many common parts as possible, another thing to consider is that the russians are scaling down the size of the radar so it can fit without mayor inconvenience, you’re right in that it is no easy job (neither was my car) but its far from impossible and anti-economic and the result will be Mig-29 for a looong time 😉 .
but anyway i was refering to install those BARS to the Peruvian air force when i said “i want those for my Migs”, sure i’d love that 😀
i just want to make clear that to me it is possible and makes sense and more it will be also one of the factors the russians will be considering (the rest of the market) IF they are intelligent 😉
just my “one cent oppinion” 🙂

    georgie.
stuctural mods and/or reinforcements are common in all aviation industry, nothing a country or shop with moderate tooling cant do, if the BARS is finally cleared for the Mig-29 it will be possible to install it on any Mig-29 as long as you have the money to pay for, in fact, it wouldnt surprise me if ends up as a “direct bolt-on”, probably you’re thinking on the kfir example with its ugly nose, product of the new elta radar, i seriously doubt you’ll see such an aberration on the Mig, once the integration is finished.
remember, electronically the russians MAY be one or two steps behind the west, but structurally they are second to none 😉

    hey wait a minute…
did you guys notice on the specs for the Mig? they are talking about the N-011M BARS radar, last i’ve heard was: “it’s too big” (where did i heard that before 😀 ) and aint talking about the antenna, i’m talking about the whole radar core, did they downsize it? ’cause i’d love that radar for “my Migs” 🙂 (9-13).
one thig for sure looks sweet is those 4 pylons per wing (8 total) plus the center one, its gotta be HOT.
