The fuselages arrived this week. The wings next week.

They currently don’t have a building large enough for an airframe of that size anyway. Currently there are two narrow sheds, one for a fuselage and the other for wings. with side workshops for engines etc. In which they manage their stunning restorations.
There are proposals to develop part of the airfield with better facilities for them, but that is in the future.

As a member of the LLA I suspect that the question of support for the BBMF will be raised at ‘the most important meeting in the associations history’ Perhaps its future too. As I live more than 200 miles away I expect I’ll find out afterwards. 🙁

The LLA I believe has about 6000 members nationwide and abroad. It is also a registered charity. If a commercial club means a ‘Memorial Flight’ type magazine full of adverts and spam through the post and web, count me out.

To be fair both ways, the BBMF PRO was also the honorary PRO for the LLA for the last year or so. On the other hand I believe the LLA contributed around £100,000 toward the cost of TE311s wings. They also helped with the cost of the Bomber Command memorial stone at Beachy Head.
I still don’t want to be part of a commercially run club.

I certainly will not join a commercially run supporters club.
    Profit from remembrance?

I seem to remember a student on a first solo had the engine stop over the M25 and successfully landed in a field right by it. I think he got an award?

LHR wanted to make more room for aircraft to park where she was. She is planned to stay there for about 12 months.
She has little interior as it was stripped out for replacement which was stopped when the retirement was announced.

‘Britains Flying Past’, I hope it will mention the Sea Kings’ American ancestory!

Is the Sea King being retired by the RAF and replaced by the contract SAR this year?
I assume the RN Junglies will be around for a few more years?

I have read elsewhere that the Sea King is supposed to end its service in 2016. They are having a second go at setting up a civilian SAR service contract at the moment. There have been long running threads on Pprune about the rights and wrongs!

What happened to the Test Pilot memorial supported by Aeroplane? Was any money collected? Was it completed?

The Test Pilots Memorial is to be unveiled at FAST Farnborough on 1st May.

I suspect due to the current instability of the political situation in Egypt.

It didn’t seem to hinder the RAFM expedition.
When I read the lengths the USA goes to recover their missing from Vietnam, Cambodia etc I despair of our MOD.
