I have received via my MP Adam Hollaway a letter from the Minister for Pension affairs that the JCC have now contacted all three of the family they have listed. One was out of the UK and had not checked his mail.
I have thanked my MP for his efforts and have expressed the hope that the M.O.D will have some firm information for the family eventually.
It is nearly a year since this sad story broke isn’t it?

I thought the BBMF Dakota was was a memorial? It has been painted as
such for most of its service with the flight.

A little more to John Green’s post. ‘Pancho Villa’ is mentioned in ‘First Light’ by Geoffrey Wellum. He of course flew with 92.

Asking the Internet to keep quiet about a flight to the USA is going to attract
attention from more than just US Customs

I suppose a date for the LIFE photo file would help?
Then a check of the senior officer list for that year.

Could the officer on the left be the Duke of Kent?
The present Duke’s father was in the RAF and died during WW2.

In a TV programme about a year ago, there was a machine gun recovered from a Spitfire in Ireland. The Irish army reconditioned it mounted it on a tripod and (was it Dan Snow?) fired it. Maybe its on Utube?

Perhaps they will have the opportunity to screw their ‘new’ Defiant together!

Nice work Brian as usual! They look nearly 3D on my flat screen!
Many thanks to all the photographers for their efforts this year.

If MAPS usual high standard has been maintained the Defiant will have been returned to as near original condition as possible. I know that they were making replica 303 Brownings. The turret even had a working gun sight!

A Merry Christmas to all forumites wherever you are in the World.

I cannot see any chance of building a new RAFM on Kenley. The locals protect their open space fiercely. Recently there was a problem with the gliding field just needing to put up a safety fence.

Is there a good source of information on the electrics for panels?
I’d like to light up a couple and possibly have flags and instruments working but other than waving a vacuum cleaner hose over the air driven instruments I’m clueless. I don’t want to blow anything up but it would be nice to see movement.
Bunsen, This might help a little. I was talking to the chap restoring Concorde Delta Golf’s flight deck at Booklands. As they cannot use the original wiring he was installing PC type cooling fans behind the panel lights. He has nearly the whole flight deck panels illuminated now. Very impressive it looks too!

My thanks too to DCW and all the crew. This thread is required reading every day I’m on the web.

I’ll be a little greedy. A ride in Santa’s sleigh around the world to see those fabulous aircraft we see on here, in the U.S and New Zealand. All without any jet lag!
