I received the same letter so I emailed my MP Adam Holloway about the discrepancy mentioned in post 251. He has now replied that he has written to Phillip Hammond asking him to clarify whether the family have been contacted.

Excellent report and photos Rlangham.
Perhaps the RAF Museum could now put the design team that laid out the G-W building onto the B of B or Bomber hall?

Amongst the equipment and parts that the Brooklands museum received was this cutaway display of the main undercarriage bogie. Even the tyre inflator valve is sectioned! The enthusiastic Concorde team reassembled it and it is displayed Under Delta Golf.

Most spares were sold off or donated to the museums that have an airframe. They are therefore not available for airworthy uses. Some electronics were removed by BA to prevent their airframes from being flown again.I expect Air France did the same.
Why does a Concorde have to be in London when there is already Delta Golf at Brooklands on the M25? They also have the only working Concorde simulator as well. Much of the work was done by volunteers and certainly didn’t cost £30-£40M !!

Big mistake in LLA Autumn mag, the new CO is Sqdn Ldr Duncan Mason.
Doh! I should have spotted their mistake myself! 😮

In the LLA Autumn magazine, the new CO, Duncan Sampson says the scheme ‘represents a Hurricane 11c of 34 squadron While serving in SEAC usually flown by F/Lt Jimmy Whalen with his personal insignia on the nose.’

Well done to Fluffy and all the crew. I see there will be a press launch soon,
will that be with a nice restored Hurricane with it?

Answering my own question. I see there is a bit of work on the Hurri still to do….

Any danger this could spread to fast taxi run airframes in the future? What if insurance companies are ‘encouraged’ to demand the same standards?
mmitch.
I would think that the transfer of a single example would be acceptable to most ‘clear thinking’ people. Perhaps not to an official with paperwork to shuffle though. It’s the airworthy airframes that would muddy the waters. May be a government licence like with other armaments would be an answer?

I first went there in the Spring of 1973. I drove to Hendon expecting to see road signs for it. Finding none I stopped a AA man and he got directions over his radio! Always surprised me that they had kept so many different types when so much was scrapped during and after WW2.

You just need to follow the Duxford Diary thread…..

Is it one of those Merlin powered ones? 🙂
