The prototype VC10 made its maiden flight from Weybridge (Brooklands) on the 29th June 1962. The museum has the ex Oman VC10 ex-A40-AB/G-ASIX
on display and a exhibition will be opened in the ex BA forward fuselage section as well.

I have been to a museum that bans mobile phones ” Because they have cameras in them” They wanted me to leave it at the entrance but I took it back to my car. I haven’t been back since.

The Lanc is stripped for examination at each major service (about 6 years) It is then repainted in the scheme of a Lanc that did at least 100 ops.

I know they had a wash plant when in service. But surely the airframe should reasonably proved against the weather? They stood outside at Kinloss when in service.

The IWM in London is closing for about 6 months while it is refurbished.
A major exhibition will be built in time for the 100 anniversary of WW1. The aircraft will be stored and ‘worked on’ in hangar 5 at Duxford.

I could never understand why ordinary bombs were not dropped while the reconstruction was taking place. Not necessarily a planned raid.
Even if crews had been ordered to drop any loads from aborted raids in the lakes it would have had an effect. Tidal waves?

I think there is an hour documentary on the BBMFs year. As usual they showed one of their planes and a pilot, but don’t mention the year round effort by all the team at Conningsby.
