She was towed across to the maintanence area for a wash down and is now having some attention in a hangar. The Concorde SST website has this thread. See:- http://p102.ezboard.com/fconcordesstfrm2.showMessageRange?topicID=5425.topic&start=1&stop=20

The new memorial is unveiled on Sunday. Presumably there will be a flypast?
Always remember them.

If you leave the M25 at Junction 4 onto the A21 northbound, the route is all ways signed.

Good article JDK.
Duxford still has the ‘old RAF airfield’ about it. A walk up the road behind the hangars lined with workshops (with airframes being restored) always has that effect on me.
The problem I foresee is future over crowding. The Airborne Forces museum and the Red Devils base will take up more room soon. This will drive car parks etc for airshows further away. Will this mean an extension westwards?

Remember hearing two elderly visitors have an argument about what it was.
The final line went. “Has it got a German registration? Yes, SO IT IS A FW190” 😮

His enthusiasm shone out of his posts. He will be sorely missed.
My condolences,

Wish those engine inlets were covered in. Sea air and Sea birds will not do the internals any good.

Tenuous link! Doesn’t Dunsfold have a 747 and a DC10 stored there? 🙂

LCY was built in the old London docklands area. The main docks are now far down river at Tilbury. The LCY fire service have small craft to react to an emergency. I don’t think that even a small barge would be welcome in these waters. 🙂

Apologies if you have already seen this PaulR but a link from the URL in your post gives this info on a Tom Cooper writing for Osprey.

It was flying on the Friday. I have seen BAS aircraft at Duxford on several occasions over the years. Long flight up or maybe they come by ship?
This photo I took on Friday shows the aerials etc.

I did post a link (in another thread) to the website of the guys who take their ground running Merlins around the shows. see:- http://members.lycos.co.uk/pwgrieve/index.html

Not sure if this is a hobby or a sport. 🙂

The BBC had cameras all over the Catalina and in the waist gun position of Sally B. Pity a few single engined types were not allowed so the RN historic flight (for example) were left out. The Lancs poppy drop was the most important element though.
