I’m just wondering if Steve put a deposit on that Hurricane and is coming back to Legends to collect it? Or perhaps JDK can pursued him to wait for the possible 2 seat one? 🙂

I have always found this strange. The National Trust (and others) stopped photography on security grounds. Alarm systems and valuables could be identified in advance for planning a robbery.
Hawkinge used to be a more friendly place with someone on hand to answer questions. 2 years ago there was just one person on the entrance. I suppose they don’t have enough volunteers. Perhaps one follows another? 🙁

Have you tried the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton. See:-
http://www.aviationmuseum.net/
also The Norwich Aviation Museum at:-

It’s several years since I visited them but most museums have records and wreckage from crash sites.

On seeing this Luscombe Silvaire at Abingdon.
” My dad flew these, they were practically built in our backyard”
Some ‘homebuilt’ 🙂

On the Concorde SST website there are details of how they have fitted out some of the systems (lighting, signs etc) to run off ground power and the exhibition that visitors will see before entry. It does not give an opening date yet but says watch this space! See:- http://www.concordesst.com/latestnews.html and scroll down to the news item dated in April.

I have used both film and digital cameras on several different domestic flights in the UK. All the cabin crew seem interested in is whether it is secure and not likely to hit someone in an emergency. Surprisingly an organiser like a Psion does give out quite a bit of interference. Try a scanner receiver on an ATC frequency and see how much the device interferes. One may not matter to an airliners electronics but just imagine 100.!

Wrecks and Relics list the Javelin at the top of the thread as being at Innsworth at one time. Can’t see one listed as being at Newton. Unless it was scrapped. 🙁

The Lanc was at Woodall Spa and Kelstern on its own and New Leak, Blackpool and Elvington with a Spit and Hurri. These details are on their website at:- http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/displaydates.html

Don’t mention perches Lancman might be around!

By definition a warbird is an ex-military aircraft that was in front line operational service. In motorsport they have categories that are also defined by a ‘latest year.’ So that if a warbird is defined as eg. in military use before 1980 then that date advances each year. This will include more jets.
Then of coarse there is the added problem of a ‘restored around a data plate’ aircraft! It’s a can of worms!

The Dornier and the Yak are exceptional, I would like to see both those over in the UK.
The Mustangs are familiar!

On the wall of names at the US Cemetery at Madingley, Cambridge, UK there are some of the US Coast Guard. Would they have been on Air Sea Rescue?
Perhaps around the D Day period?

Try this link, I had saved the webpage to my PC and got it from there!

I am certainly not qualified to give specific case details of recovery ‘difficulties’. Von Perthes and others probably can.
But I have certainly read of cases over the years where the ‘authorities have tried to stop a ‘dig’ and then when it has gone ahead a pilot has been found.
British law does require that a body is reported to a coroner who then decides if further investigation into the death is required. It is also an offence to conceal a body, which perhaps is why some ‘authorities’ don’t wish a recovery to proceed?
