On a Pprune thread, it says that it was estimated to have dropped to 74 feet before climbing away….

Perhaps if the RAFM doesn’t want the central memorial anymore it should at least go to Capel-en Ferne.
Or maybe they can find a dark corner to dump it…..

That film answered a question about the gliders that had been in my mind since I recently saw the film again. At least one glider is shown being towed on the ground so must have been properly built. 10 were built but 8 damaged in a storm. The commentary mentioned some were built for flight? I thought those were maybe models?

Sad to see the Defiant like that after the hours MAPS spent restoring it. 😡

Some there of Jap aircraft at the end of WW2. Also Twin Mustangs in Texas.

My fear too. If anyone wants to wade through the ‘treacle’ story of the ATC gliders grounding and the lose of its paperwork, try reading this page. http://www.pprune.org/military-aviation/538497-air-cadets-grounded-134.html

Regarding the engineered walk through exhibit, Brooklands constructed a Wellington fuselage using left over framework from the R-Robert restoration. It is fixed to the hangar wall and is fitted out with all the crew stations bar the tail gunner’s. It is often missed but two young members of my family (steered into it by me) found questions to ask.

I can remember talking to a staff member there about 20 years ago and he told me that teachers visiting for a briefing before a school visit sometimes expressed surprise that the Battle of Britain really happened!

Anyone been to the museum recently? Is the Battle of Britain hall closed or empty?

I see they are even shutting a nearby canal at Farnborough to stop spectators viewing from the towpath, or a passing narrow boat! How about the housing at the other end?

I am using the first one. If I click on ‘not now’ It lets me see about one third of the page. I have two PCs one using W7 and the other 10, both behave the same.

My OP concerned the fact that the BBMF page has been freely available to anyone since it started but is now being blocked.
Is it their choice or is Facebook blocking it?

Sadly not this year. Last year’s display was OK but completely spoiled by me taking 4 hours to get out of the car park.
Only one narrow gate and I was told it was the same at the previous one.

I believe there is to be a viewing window at the back with a pathway to it through the fence?
