For the record I have been ‘gifted’ the name of the miscreants in a rant from Robbo (who is apparently nothing to do with it, nor this thread). So if the names are freely floated around by PM by people apparently unconnected with this incident pity the poor unknowing ones, since they are obviously friendless.
From what I know from the forum posts made – very little – I believe both sides are as bad as each other and it would do the forum good if all concerned were to get week long bans. We all know threats are unlikely to ever be carried out, but still the provoking went on. – Nermal

Hmm. Some replies get deleted, a reply gets posted which thoroughly goes against Franks warning and Kev still try to come over as Mr High-And-Mighty.
Lock this thread, the question is still directed at Flood no matter how much he insists it isn’t and we debate the question not the subject of the question.
And incidentally, I got an insulting and rude PM from EN830: it will be going to the mods and the webmaster. – Nermal

And we hoepfully await its relegation away from prime time, as its losing viewers faster than an orgy in an old peoples home – Nermal

No no, you must drive on the “right” side

Yes, but the right side of the road is the wrong side… – Nermal

Shall we trust that they will come back to you with a warning for talking on a mobile phone whilst driving, which is, of course, illegal? It has happened: I covered a story involving a woman who saw a knife-fight and called the police; when they asked where she was she said that she was driving away because she felt unsafe, they said that it was against the law and that someone would speak to her. She was apparently given a warning.
But there are a lot of people who enjoy ringing up and giving false information – saying that there is a body in a field or that a house is on fire. The operator passes your number over so that they can come back and confirm with you about how you can to see what you report, or prosecute you for passing false information.
Another thing to remember is that you will almost never be passed to a control centre local to you – I have reported car accidents and fallen trees, etc, to Newcastle, Birmingham, and Devon and Cornwall police control centres – so you cannot rely on local knowledge. – Nermal

You might find it was a Sea Hornet;)
Old aeroplanes were always being used to test carrier catapults. They would be empty in case there was a problem so that no one risked their lives, and I believe the engines were not fired up after one or two incidents involving uncontrolled aircraft circling the carrier instead of going in the drink (specifics not remembered, of course).
Value? It would be subjective – after all, it would not be a Spitfire or Mustang, would it… – Nermal
