Still got a lot to learn about Ranting 😀

I totally agree, however part of Alberts complaint was directed at this particular aircraft, which IMHO given the conditions was unfair

So, an aircraft that has been there many times before has to keep its cover on for REASONS OF SAFETY and you still dont get that its a SAFETY issue and are still whinging about it!!

For Gods sake we had a display with 3 Hunters a Typhoon a never to be repeated flypast with a Hunter and Jag and you are still going on about an unremarkable allbeit vry nicely maintained and presented Helicopter that had covers on in the static for SAFETY reason.

It was 80 odd degrees on Saturday, cut them some slack and be grateful the owner is preparred to display it anywhere.

The last thing I heard was that the Meteor would possibly not display due to crewing issues.

The commentators blamd the insurance problem. In which case how did it fly in?

With regards to the covers. Yesterday we had extreme temperatures, the people who brought the aircraft in also had to FLY her home again. If I were them and faced with the same choice I would have done the same thing. The aircraft has appeared at Kemble before without covers so its not as if they were being obstructive, yesterday was a bit hotter than the norm.

Its better to be safe than sorry.

I’ll echo the previous comments, the Spitfire shot is stunning!

Because there is no technical reason the RN carriers could not be adapted to do the job of recieving F-14 or launching same.

They are/were not big enough, they were barely big enough for the F-4. Now if one of you technical reasons is to cut the thing into quarters and make it wider and longer then fine. Most of us prefer to be realistic.

I agree it’s technically highly unlikely

Its more than that, its impossible.

One did receive an RN tail, but that was because it was U/S on deck and needed to be “hidden” when the Ark made a port visit to a country where the US was less than welcome. More details at home when I get there.

Well the Ark uses a metal strop system on its catapaults and the F-14 uses a bar on the nosewheel leg. The two systems on the Ark are incompatable (although this cannot have been the case on US Carriers) therefore I am willing to bet Mr Johnstone-Bryden is wrong.

F-4’s cross decked on the Ark. However her catapaults were incompatable with the F-14 so I suspect it didnt happen.
