There were a couple of other French artists with him also doing signings of their work which were all aviation related.
I dont recall any SF work personally but it could have been them, they were in a tent near the Fighter collections hangar.

The artist is Romain Hugault. Take a look at:

    Caution, some ‘adult’ content!!!

A really nice chap and a superb aviation artist. I met him at the signing he did at last years Legends and picked up the three French volumes of “Le grand duke” which he signed and remarqued for me.:)

Why cut them, why not just remove the props before removing the engine ?
Where they so badly damged that they were unrestorable ?
If not then it just makes any future restoration (hopefully) needlessly more complicated.

Really nice image, the ‘105 has been one of my favourite aircraft ever since i built the old Airfix kit as a boy many year’s ago.

I’ve had your “Men from the planet Earth” LEM print on my wall for several months.

Not cannons, but I remember seeing “Sally B” firing her waist 50’s during passes at the “Great Warbirds” show held shortly after the filimimg of “Memphis Belle”, not sure if that would be possible today as the gun laws have changed since then.
Apparently they still had unused blanks left over from the filming.
They were surprised at the amount of vibration it sent through the airframe when they were fired

Head’s up guy’s, “The sand devil’s” has been republished this week, it’s the last Commando with full interior art by Ian Kennedy, and in what I believe to be a first for DC Thompson, they’ve commissioned him to paint new cover art, making the whole issue a fine example of his work, a real classic!

I think that 1993 was actually a “Classic fighter” show, “Legends” first year was 1996 ?

Hmm, not sure I see one unique exception as ‘setting a precedent’, and I’m only repeating what’s already been said. But if you feel that strongly you could always lobby Mr Grey and tell him his choice of piston engines only is wrong !

    Rob

I didn’t say his choice was wrong, after all its his ball to play with and i could understand the stance of no jets if people were lobbying for modern heavy metal in the display but not the 262.
Wasn’t the ’93 event a “Classic fighter” show rather than a “Legends” one ? so the “rule” didn’t exist then, hence the T33. & if memory serves the Martin Baker Meteor & one or two Gnats.

Unless Stephen Grey has had a change of heart then as i understand it jets are still a definate no.

    Rob

Sorry but in my eye’s he backtracked on that caveat a few years ago by allowing an F15 into the show as part of the US Heritage flight.
The precedent has now been set & a 262 replica is more relevent to the shows overall theme than that paticular parafin burner regardless of the “heritage” aspect.

I had the Air ace holiday special with the 262 on the cover as well, I always looked forward to the school summer holidays as my parents would usually buy me a couple of these to read during car journeys on days out.
There’s a copy for sale on “evil bay” at the moment but a bit pricey for its condition.

Just finished reading this and we were both wrong, its actually Battle’s, Marylands & Baltimores, with assorted other types thrown in for good measure, although I still think the cover looks like a Hampden.
One thing you can say for these types of comics, there’s certainly no “Spitfire snobbery” within their pages, all types of aircraft get their time in the spotlight.

there was one I had, one of the first I purchased I think, either Air Ace picture library. or War..P L, titled, ‘The knockout punch’, something about a feud between an Englishman and a German, begun pre-war in the boxing ring and continuing into ww11. the cover depicted Beauforts? diving on German anti aircraft sight. I would love to see this again?..

Is this the one ? it’s a Hampden rather than a Beaufort and you can read the complete story on line here.

Time to resurrect this thread as there are going to be another 4 Commando reprint collections being published August 15 2013, six stories in each.

Any idea if this is available on any sort of catchup facility or going to be repeated ? as I only have “poor peoples TV” so would need to see if a friend can record it for me if available.
