Yes, I have had quite a few flights in VC10’s as well, lovely old birds that they are.
If you want to see some not so pretty VC10 sights, then follow the link to a previos thread.

She just looks so out of place where she is displayed, I think the arguaments about who deserved a Concorde have long since run their course, but displayed on a barge in a city???

    Wow….serious amounts of fuel….
I don’t know how long it takes from Yukon to Frankfurt, but I was on an RAF TriStar from Ascension Island to the Falklands a few years ago that diverted to Monte Video. We were airbourne for over 13 hours.

I watched a TriStar tanker being refuelled a couple of years ago, and as someone who doesn’t know much about how they take, I was amazed to see 4 Twinrig refuellers (truck-18,200 & trailer 20,000 litres) pumped into the aircraft.
That is a total of 152,800 litres or 33,650 gallons plus whatever was still in the thing.
Goodness knows how much that would cost, but it would earn you a few green shield stamps.

Dutchy, cheers for the link, however the info with the picture is wrong, that aircraft A40-VG cn 809 entered RAF service as ZA141, the first VC10 K2.

XX914 cn 825 Started life as a cancelled Ghana Airways aircraft 9G ABQ, becoming G-ATDJ of British United Airways, before being sold to the RAE.

The third BA Super VC10 at BZN was ZD233 / G-ASGE, which was broken up, and went to Catterick and later Manston, being mated with ZD239 / G-ASGK to make the Super Super VC10 training airframe, both scrapped in 1999.

In the meantime, my last photo of ZD234

And finally, ZD234, formerly G-ASGF, I believe the cockpit survives at BZN as a tanker simulator.

ZD232, previously G-ASGD, I believe that is the right registration, as it was 1 of only 3 BA Supers to be retired to BZN

Sorry Archer, that is the only piccy I have of XX914, taken during the RAF aviation society visit to Brize in Aug 1987.

Don’t know if these photos will be of any use to you, I have already sent some to TenWeb, and you can use them too if you want.
