The BBC reported the pilot having serious back injuries. They also, as trumper says, reported that G-YAMS was a WW2 a/c, not bad considering it was built in 1984!

Best wishes to the pilot, hope he makes a full recovery.

“And not the consuming public, then?”
And the public consume cigarettes, alcohol, burgers, and is it good for them? Just because the public buy it doesn’t make it good or desirable.

“Maybe to you, I, and the rest of the members of these forum, but it would carry just a hint of interest to the viewers and they’d have forgotten it within ten minutes anyway.”
So one program that appeals to the public that has a brain, it that too much to ask? How many programs on TV do you actually want to watch? I look through the TV listings and circle anything I want to watch, lucky if there is 1 programme worth watching the rest is junk. All the stations also copy each other’s programmes, absolutely no idea’s. They could bring back Raymond Baxter and Tomorrows World, that would be a start.

Anglia TV coverage was abysmal, preferring 5 minutes on the Beckingham palace christening crap, versus a few seconds on our heritage.
BBC Look East did a much better job, as already mentioned.

More photos, sorry about size/quality, still getting to grips with changing them to an acceptable size for this forum.

It is to fly again, I haven’t any dates/times but will post when I know. It is to continue to fly from Marshalls until it meets CAA approval.

Yes it was run up in one of the Marshalls hangars. A Merlin on almost full song in a hangar!

The engine runs today went well and the aircraft is due to fly tomorrow. But I dont have a specific time, but those that looked at the aircraft today say it is immaculate.

Moggy, I have flown at Snitterfield a couple of times. The first time was brilliant, the instructor once he knew I was a PPL let me fly from half way up the winch launch to touch down. No control input from him, just very good advice. Flight lasted 75 minutes.
The second time, I got the anti brigade, so you’re a PPL, not real flying is it. An instructor who would not let go of the controls, left pissed off, never been back.
Seems to me many of them wished they had a PPL, but would’nt admit it.

But does mean a poor glider pilot will still be a good ppl?
All very well flying a glider, from a thousand feet you can go a long way, but when the donkey stops on the Yak it glides like a brick.
You will be a better pilot if you fly tail-draggers, tri-cycle, do aerobatics, do your IMC, fly different types, gliders, microlights, twins etc…
I personally would go and do my PPL, now if I had the funds and the time, I’d do both!
