The EDI service has a large catchment area.

AN AREA SET TO BECOME EVEN LARGER

Indeed, this thread is a very annoying. Im sure the EDI guys that are making out that COs service is the best thing since sliced bread. Id like to see some concrete proof of everything you are saying.

EDI has been starved of long-haul routes under BAA’s ownership Tom and yes, EDI guys get a lot of satisfaction
    from CO’s loads…

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding, look at the loads!

We were continually being told there was no demand, how wrong the doubters were. 😡

EDI guys are not known for ‘window-dressing’, look at the
respective signatures compared to the ‘Blackpool illuminations’ elsewhere. :dev2:

I so wish I had links to prove all this. But all I can offer you is the above, spoken by a CO employee to an over inquisitive passenger

The load figures confirm what you are saying.. I don’t doubt
they would have been greater with bigger aircraft capacity.

One wonders what CO are thinking now about their pre-launch decision on EDI’s winter programme.

Remember, though, that the festival isn’t during July, it is during August.
So the mid-90 loads in July should have had little or nothing to do with the festival.

July is of course Scottish peak holiday season, folk tend to book annual holidays 10/11 months in advance… EDI-EWR
    was not announced then…

On that basis next July/August bookings should be
    colossal. 😮

It’s great to hear that, B764 could be pushing it though, but CO know best if they want to or not.
Like I said though, it’s getting quite late on now for this summer is it not?

One would imagine that the use of larger aircraft would
eliminate most over-booking and would prevent disappointed
    pax seeking alternative carriers.?

The current 94% loads are as damn near ‘fully booked’ as you can get. 😎

The main problem with larger aircraft seems to be whether
BAA would be happy with them on a daily basis.? I
    personally doubt it.. 😡

It’s out? I can only get the CAA airport stats for August just now?

Ooops! You are right..seems we are talking July rather than August! 😮

I believe there was an article in the Sunday Times saying that CO have intentions of upgrading the route to B767, a bit late for this summer though. 🙂

The CAA provisional data indicates EDI-EWR loads for August
    are some 94%.

In the words of CO, EDI loads are “immense”, a comment made before the August figures were known..

Looking at other Scottish airport TX loadings it would appear that EDI will continue to outperform
    load-wise.

Sounds about right (the last one)… They’re looking for five more 733s (first three supposedly coming from Easy) – two are to replace the two leasers mentioned above, two additional aircraft for Birmingham (the third BHX a/c is coming from the MAN base), and the final a/c as a service backup to be used to try to rid them of the “BMIMaybe” nickname! Andy

Yep..things are certainly looking up! :p

wet leasing a BMi A321 (G-MIDX) until the 16th of this month.

Things must be looking-up if they need a 321?

I sure was on this one. seat 30A

The plane was packed to capacity. At the gate in Newark they announced it was overbooked! 😮

Anyway.. thanks Joe! I’m off to bed now…. didn’t sleep much on the plane.

Takes me about 4/5 days to ‘throw’ jet-lag.

You younger guys should see it off in 12 hours. 🙂

I wonder if RipConcorde checked seat availabilty on this
    one.?
