Just watched it fly in from my home office window in Cramlington
Mytravel is only a known name now because of it’s recent financial problems, Thomas Cook dates back to 1841. The Airtours name is much better known, and I never understood why they changed the group name to start with, I would imagine the Airtours name would be retained in addition to Thomas Cook, perhaps replacing JMC.
That said, there needs to be consolidation in the UK package holiday market, as it has been a poor couple of years in the industry with over capicity issues and smaller profit margins, due to a number of things such as Sars, Bird Flu, good weather, terrorisim scares and of course the influx of low-co’s and bed banks.
I, from a travel agent’s point of view see this as a good move, although I fear there will be big job cuts for the workforce.
“> NCL-DXB with EX its official!!”
Or maybe even with EK!!!
I guess EK will now have brown-ale on their in-flight bars! :diablo:

Lol, too much broon for me last night 😀
that shot was taken at about midday, but the same type of photo could have been quite a few times during the day – the aircraft rotating was G-EZAM, the aircraft doing circuits; whilst the aircraft on approach was another easy A319.
I actually saw the ajet 737-800 fly over the airport but i couldnt say at what time.
thanks 🙂
Just found out – saw this on a.net
Reg: 5B-DCE
Type: B737-800
Operator: aJet Airways
Flight number: AJY414/01T
ATA: 13:36
ATD: 14:56
Comments: Positioning flight to Lasham
That shot of one aircraft leaving and another landing was it around 2pm yesterday, if so I witnessed it from overhead, we were on a-jet’s b737-800 (their last flight) on approach to Manchester 😉
Thomson are doing carrying on there summer NCL- Luxor flights into winter for 2007/08.
No HRG from NCL flight according to our systems, there does’nt seem to be any change from Winter 06/07.
Only operator who has said it is to release brochures is Thomas Cook, and we aint got them yet so don’t know where HRG rumour has come from!
Thanks for the help guys, Gran Canaria sounds like a winner to me. Anyone know what airline/aircraft type that would be?
Air Europa B737 😉
A quick search on http://www.deals2travel.co.uk shows the following flights available
Exeter and Bristol to Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)
Bristol to Funchal (Maderia)
Prices from Exeter were starting at £269
The Doncaster and Cardiff route has been axed, the aircraft that was due to operate the flights was stuck in Beruit so they have juggled the existing fleet for Donny in August but the remainder of the season is scrapped. I had 18 bookings on the flights in September and we were advised by Sunways today, so I’m not a happy chappy today 😡
awesome news!!
erm……. wheres chambery ??
lol. France
Well one of my simple responses from someone who lived in York who went to Tenerife is “I did’nt know you can fly from Leeds to Tenerife”. Problem LBA has is people always refear to Manchester when booking a holiday.
90% of people i know go from Manchester, very rarely i know someone going from LBA.
I am a travel agent and work in telesales on a national basis, and the vast majority of people who live in and close to LBA, that we deal with, much prefer to fly from there local airport.
When is this announcement to be made I have checked LBA’s website, Gambia Experience and Astraeus website and there is no mention of it?
