    Well said swerve!

As there are still survivors of this policy in Australia, this is still a live issue, as such an appology just isn’t enough. But how much compensation would one consider just and fair for a child torn from its mother and community?

And to those of you who don’t seem to believe that even an appology is in order or the ‘History is history and should be left there.’ How would you feel if you had your child taken away by the state, because they wanted to try some social engineering?

I must admit I get pretty annoyed with all the doom and gloom merchants on here. Ok so it looks like the DC3 will not be allowed to carry passengers in future, and yes it could be see as a set back.

But then aircraft preservation has always been a case of two steps forward and one step back – result we have more historic aircraft on display than 25 years ago, more flying, more opportunities to enjoy flights in vintage aircraft, more aircraft under cover, better restorations etc etc etc.

As Atlantic 1 says negotiations are on going; so lets hope for a positive outcome – and who knows we might be surprissed and any new exemptions might open the door to people like the Aviodrome operating thier Connie on pleasure flights, or dare we hope for AACF to carry passengers in their DC6.

In the meantime if it really matters that much put your money (£65) where you mouth is, go to Coventry on one of AACFs open days and fly in a DC3. If you don’t take the opportunity then whether the Dakotas continue to fly passengers is pretty accademic isn’t it?

The rumour that the CWH Lanc will be coming to the UK seems to come up every year, along with suggested tours by this or that B17 , B24.

I seem to remember once ‘Diamond lil’ made the trip, other than that all I can recall is the Fortresses that came over for the filming of Memphis Belle.

So once again I suspect any UK tour by the Canadian Lancaster is pure fantasy. After all could you see the BBMF Lanc going on a tour of Canada?

From memory. I think there was an account in the pilots own words of his captivity in the Ian Allen book Harrier at War.

Dont Worry. You’re time is going to come!

I suspect this is just the opening shots in Zep’s campaign to finally become the unchallenged mega band of all time. There was an off the cuff comment by one James Paige upon the BBC website to the effect that the next step would involve a recording studio. Which I was astounded more people didin’t pick up on……………

So I would guess the tour will steam roller its way around the world within the next eighteen months. But then time will tell.

Moggy, last time our department advertised for a Data Analyst, we had 250 + applications not an uncommon level of response these days for a moderately well paid job with some prospects.

To be honest we just don’t have the resources to reply to every applicant, and this is true for most medium sized businesses, in these competative times.

Try the 28 days later urban exploration forum, and yes I know they’re controversial on here, but they have a whole subforum on ROC posts and some of their members do seem to be very knowledgable on the subject.

It should also be remembered that teaching a qualification generally only requires a good understanding of the sylabus/subject matter, and the ability to impart the knowledge/skills required to pass.

I have met many people who have huge experience of various subjects, far exceeding that of most teachers/instructors in their field, but who have never taught – or desired to teach. This illustrates perfectly the old adage ‘those who can do, those that can’t teach.’

With regards to Phixer’s posts it seems that there are more and more people questioning the official version of the events on 9/11, certainly on this side of the atlantic. This is typified by this article about 9/11 that appeared in the independent a couple of weeks ago.

    http://news.independent.co.uk/fisk/article2893860.ece

Robert Fisk is of course one of the UK’s most respected journalists and certainly not someone to shoot from the hip…………………

Most people do not trust official sources, and following the ‘intelligence failures’ to do with weapons of mass destruction that lead to the current fiasco in Iraq, probably with good reason.

    With regards to deleting post due to offence I have always found the following;

Do you not know that I live by war, and that peace would be my undoing? -Sir John Hawkwood.

in SealordLawarence’s signature particularly offensive, as I believe one would have to be a particularly sick individual to prefer war to peace. But I have not said anything as ranting against such things is pointless – live and let live.

Further to ask for something to be deleted because one finds it offensive goes against the principle of free speech, so cherished in the west and especially the USA.

Finally if what Phixer says has no validatity it won’t stand; if it has validity the number of questions and people asking them will continue to increase – and eventually the truth will emerge.
