thanks guys…..if it was westerlies I’d probably have post-rotation photos only!!!

wannabe…..if its the standard 75-300 you get with the EOS300 package (which I think it is…….) its not too bad, on an EOS300D that will get you out to 480mm I think the sensor is bigger on the 350D so the crop factor has come down a bit…not really sure on the specs tho………

I used that lense for all my airshows last year and was perfectly happy with it………it just didnt have the reach that I want.

As far as I am concerned those guys were set-up when the greek authorities realised that they had little or no background to their claims and werent man enough to back down.

However……good luck spotting on your holiday!

    practice panning!!

I can only echo the statements already made, I’d practice panning if you can see a road or somthing similar, a train line perhaps???

the good thing about digital is that you can ‘live fire’ and see the results, and then just bin ’em. Digital has certainly improved my skills faster than film……

A couple from RIAT 2004, i’m not perfect but I dont think they are too bad.

no.1 was taken at 1/125 and required a little sharpening and a little cropping only

no.2 was also at 1/125 and required a little sharpening and more cropping just to frame it a bit better.

no.3 was taken at a faster shutter speed forfeiting prop blur ofr a better chance of actually getting the picture. speed is 1/1250 I think I brightened this one a bit but thats it.

canon eos300D with the eos 300 kit 300mm film lense.

121.5 VHF or double it for UHF 243……….

I know these frequencies as guard (apparantly to inform the pilot to keep it free unless in dire emergency) and as the emergency frequencies.

When flying bulldogs, which, in the RAF I think had two radios, one was always tuned to guard (in know this for sure as I heard a conversation taking place between a SAR seaking and some other party).

I think its practice in all mil aircraft to have one radio tuned to guard…..that was a while ago now tho……so maybe it is common practice across all walks of piloting life???

or maybe it should be if you have two radios??

I do enjoy reading this thread……….crazymainer, and sauron, there is an excellent section in a book i’ll put at the end of this sentence all about US nationals supplying 50.cal sniper rifles and stinger missiles to terrorists:

    ‘Bandit Country’ by Toby Harnden.

You can purchase this in a bookshop. You may even be able to hire it out of your local library, although it may be a little harder to acquire if your local library IS called the Stalin-Kruschev Library.

Perhaps, after reading this title, you may begin to understand why the credibility of your statements (and in fact a great many of your governments statements) leaves a little to be desired.
