    Job seeking

Mennie you should not be put off from sending a cv or application for a job where you do not meet all the requirements 100 percent. The job advert is a request for their ideal candidate, it is not always possible too find enough people for interview. Enthusiasm can come over in an interview.

Pete, the summary of how they got there (from WIX) is that Mr Edwards settled the outstanding wages due to the B of B film aircrew. In return he became the owner of the aircraft. And has taken good care of them.
It is certainly true that the film saved many aircraft from an obscure end.

    re buried

Andy ,it seems that in the earlier days of wreck digging no one wanted to risk upsetting MOD because they issued the licences. Now that the truth is being revealed about about incompetent practice such as you have just highlighted I expect more examples to be exposed.I am no longer surprised just sad that such things happen. When conditions are imposed on a recovery group then the same must apply to MOD teams.

    Try this link

And the UKAR site is just superb especially when you live away from most of the action.

I like the BEA square logo tail design, although Parcel Force may sponsor !

Really good news about this major project, I recall those Dart engines being heard all across Blackpool when we got our weekly Aer Lingus sevice.

I am wondering if the individual members of this council in Spain have been told that they will be held responsible for any claims should the bombs explode.?
Usually that concentrates the minds of these woolly minded people and you might then find a change of view.

One way to be aware of shill bidders is that they bid far to early and then another one bids against them also early. Even a novice ebay user soon learns to wait until late in the selling period to bid. As has already been said here you only bid up to what you think its worth.

what I find surprising is the number of people who watch a buy it now item and wait until the last day to bid ! Well I often put my price up in the last few days so tough luck on them for waiting.

Thanks Jackattack, good news.,and interesting background. I suppose if money is not the current issue then a letter of thanks to the flight would be of use. They certainly are a superb tribute, I just hope they come back to North Scotland soon!

Skymonster .well said….at last I am not the only one who does not swallow the whole of this global warming bandwagon. The true facts are being left out because its not politically convenient.Even the scientists are not happy about the current hysteria being generated in the media. Yes there are concerns but it is no way a catastrophe.

I find it interesting that the phrasing is “Protection of military remains”,
I think someone in MOD is trying very hard to play the emotional card here. I can fully understand the concept of no one intentionally wanting a grave site disturbed. If a memorial is on site and the family relatives do not want the remains re buried then by all means list it as a war grave. If human remains are found in a recovery then let the correct procedure be followed.

It is just one part of a badly handled MOD issue which sadly gets worse with time due to lack of clear thinking by MOD. This is where I believe that the BAAC has a role to play in getting clarity.

    ownership issues

well Nick thats a good point about MOd wanting it every way. The strange thing is that Andy raised that very point at the first meeting of the BAAC at the RAF museum in the Seventies. And years later the MOD are still trying to apply rules which have to my knowledge never been tested in a court case.

Such as the MOD being sued for damages caused when unrecovered bombs in an aircraft wreck cause the closure of a main motorway and railway for 3 days .

    Ammunition warning

Good link to pics Skipper, one of them shows the handling of unused ammo. A caution ,some 20 mm rounds are electrically detonated and static discharge can set them off.

Hi Barry miniman ,suggest that you open up a discussion on website caithness.org lots of local readers and some have posted wartime memories.

With your enthusiasm I feel that you could set up an informal local group to investigate sites, there is nothing in the MOd rules to prevent that.
