Can you imagine the scene in the Lufthansa boardroom when this was decided? That some board members expressed disbelief at the costs and time taken and those who originally voted yes to the project had either left the board or been pushed aside by cost over runs. Then a final compromise…..bring it to Germany where we can do it well for less ?….. Without input from the specialists who understand the challenges and time involved you end up with a compromise which makes the return to flight seem unlikely.
