So ideally your ideal flanker variant would be something that is a late model Su-3X series, single seater with cheap A2G ordinances.. it would seem like that would be a single seat Su-30MKI, although I don’t know when it will fully develop its A2G, it seems like the Indians will use the Litening pod.. however

if what you say is true..then why are many nations still preferring two seaters? for example we see the Eurofighter countries wanting two seaters, S.Korea choosing a 2 seater F-15, China and India choosing two seaters, Israel and Greece opting for new versions of 2 seat F-16s, etc.

I believe part of it is real need and sometimes part of it is percieved need. Probably a good choice for India. I do however think then when the idea of a strike jet comes up that thinking that it has to be a two seater shouldn’t be the first tool out of the bag. Again depending on your mission profiles, interdiction / high profile strike work has been done with single seat jets. F-18s, F-16s, F-117s have done the work. Get the right multi-mission avionics in a Flanker, and some good cheap all weather kits for dumb iron, Use two single seaters, one buddy lases from high altitude while the other makes the bomb run, and other types of PGMs, etc. etc. etc. Plus you are putting less crew at risk and in cases where your air force can do it with one person instead of a two place, a fringe benefit is that you are saving money too.

So anyway, in short, not every strike solution requires a 2 seater. And if it was me, most strike solutions wouldn’t use a two seater. The one situation I would prefer a two seater would be for doing FAC work like the F-18F. It sets up targets in coordination with a G-FAC and hands those targets off to a train of single seaters as they show up.

Oh yeah that too. Really they had enough going in with all the tanker support. One of the accounts from a KC-10 report mentioned that in passing. I was just wasting forum space for no reason. 😮

That explains why all the 111’s were crying for gas after target egress on Eldorado Canyon. Simply wasteful 😀 😀

I swear. I got a list a mile long on expensive sustainment issues with the F-111. That photo should add to it nicely 😀 . Probably a cover photo for the lefty broken rifle military-industry publications 😀

Most problems with the 135 evolve around corrosion. Any problems like that in the field are usually discovered in phase, and not between phase when it is available for missions. The new glass cockpit and those wonderful modern engines ( example the R ) keep other related problems limited. That helps explain any possible confusion when you look at MC rates and then still say 135 airframe problems are getting worse and worse. Knock on wood, I hope we never have a Hawain 737 inflight instant convertable event. That would be bad for sure. Most of the bad case stuff is showing up at the depot in tinker when they go to rip it appart. 135s are spending more and more time in the depots these days.

Cool. Good Idea. Not everybody needs a two seater. Assuming a good 1 person avionics multi-role package I would prefer this if I had to do Flankers.

Interesting article. But I don’t think it is something to laugh at.

Yup. If there aren’t any large SAMs they went into what would be considered enemy territory more than a few times.

    Cool photos

think people should be allowed to use reasonable force to defend their homes

Absolutely. Reasonable force, because here, that is the standard that will be used in an initial hearing and later in court if it goes that far. Use of deadly force is only if you perceive that your life or a family member is in immediate danger. Not if someone is found on your property or is stealing something. There are some really good use of deadly force schools the average person can go to here in the U.S. Highly recommended as any use of deadly force, no matter how justified, still means you have to survive the legal system.
