I have to agree Mark 12, the panel gaps seem a little bigger there!!!!!!

And Cees, no I didn’t see the Dutch mk9 on the rooftop, but was aware of it’s 70’s resto. Do you have any pics of it before it was restored?

Well done to all those involved at BBMF for a good, sympathetic restoration.

It’s so good to see that there are still people around who will delicately take something apart and refurbish it to its former condition, or as near as possible. BBMF operate on a limited budget and do VERY well with what they’ve got.

Perhaps the other firms who take a good aircraft and have all the skins replaced etc should sit up and take note. Tom Blairs Desert marked Spit 5 has panel gaps that Rolls Royce cars would be proud of, but it seems a little souless to me. I’m sure the same fate awaits the Dutch Mk9 at Duxford too. I’ve been up close to that aeroplane and every ding and dent tell a story…….whenever the damage occurred. No ref to Rachels additional strake on AB910:D 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Again, well done and I hope to see it soon…….would have been better in silver though! Oh and can we see a close up of the aerial mounting in the camoflage please???????:)

    Fluffy, you have a pm.

    Hi Fluffy,

I think Mark 12 might just have something here…….. especially as the RAF has a very big tin of black paint!!!!!!

As you know my wish was silver, but anything would be better than another camoflage scheme……………

Where was all this ” British metal ” fitted then, there were a few patch repairs carried out to the fuselage, a couple of flap skins replaced and the wing fillet panels were supplied from Finland but that was it. I would love to see a FW190 / ME262 fly in this country even if it is not original its better than nothing and it would be nice to see a Buchon in Spanish markings.

The British metal was fitted in the fuselage, flap skins, wing fillet panels and then shed loads after that “pilot” cooked the donk and stoved it in!

Anyway, I have to agree that seeing a Buchon in it’s correct colours would be good, and seeing ANY Third Reich warplane in UK skies (reproduction/copy/replica/new build/ original) would be awesome.

No offence fluffy, just playing devils advocate.:dev2:

Will you lot get a life?

No one complained about Black 6’s lack of originality, as it had plenty of original BRITISH metal thrown in, but was still “90%” original.

We all know the FLUG WERKE 190 is manufactured from the factory drawings, but it still an awesome undertaking. I envy Roohbarbs position, I’d love to see it in the metal.

I just hope the CAA can be persuaded to have a sensible approach to its presence in the UK.

Have we really turned into a nation of moaners? And I thought the raf was bad……………….

At the end of the day does it really matter, the preservation scene has another new machine, the punters are happy at the show and we all have somethng else to whine and moan about because this and that is not how it should have been and the pilot isn’t wearing 100% authentic underpants etc etc etc. We should not loose sight of the fact that wherever these machines have come from they have taken a massive amount of input and investment from a small group of talented people…

I have to agree. Incidentally all my comments are 100% tongue in cheek.
Praise be the machines, whatever their stench…..

Don’t think we said it was anything other than a major reconstruction

Is that the same way as the Dutch Spit will be butchered?

New skins, new frames new wings new data plate blah blah blah…….:diablo:

[And the two crew members for the Tigercat are E Presley and L Lucan and they have just taken off from the deck of the Titanic as it never sank it was all a massive publicity stunt

Still beats me how the Yanks still managed to hit the same iceberg, lets face it they knew the damm thing was there. But there that’s American movies for you.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for reminding me Boghopper, I’ll get me oil thimble out! I assume the 18 and the CR42 passed their respective air tests?

I was chatting with Mr Presley before he left for the USA, and he told me that him flying the “big cat” home was the start of his comeback tour. He dined out on the Titanic and then told me that me there were a few innaccuracies with the film “Pearl Harbour”, notably that the pilots flying in those Eagle Squadrons were part of the RAF, er, the Rotund American Fella’s.

Is there any truth in the STRONG RUMOUR that the P-40 be at legends in its ORIGINAL primer?……………….:D 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 :diablo:

Both the p 40 and TF have flown, the tigercat is mid atlantic on an ice pack taking on fuel just like the Firefox(which will be at legends).

The cr 42 and mk 18 are doing a pairs routine as we speak.

And a flock of pigs has just joined them.

Hey bwb, you have a pm.

And what markings are the pigs in? I hope they’re of the vietnamese pot bellied variety, I do like a bit of nam action.

I suppose that TFC’s recent aquisition of Short Stirling, Halifax GR V and Dornier 335 will have a little trouble fitting in now that the flock of pigs is taking up hangar space?

    Nigger, Nigger, Nigger.

There, I’ve said it! It’s the name of Guy Gibsons dead dog. I’ve been stationed at Scampton and been over to the grave many times. I’m fed up of this arguement raging about this subject.

If anyone were to use the word negatively about at any of our darker skinned cousins, then that’s their choice.

Historically accurate YES, PC who gives a dam(n), will anyone be offended about it being in the new film? Who cares?!!!!!
