So they’ve dragged it out for a run then? Or maybe an airtest? Or is it to blow the dust off????!!!! Or maybe its going to have the engine removed, strapped to a truck and used as a snow blower!! Answers on a postcard please…

I’m fairly sure that the emblem is fictitious…

…along with its chances of flying on the G-Reg?!?:diablo:

In Reference to the original thread poster (FIDO I think), can he tell me what constitutes a “simple Erk” please? I’m quoting your first paragraph.

I had an R2800 cylinder from a Black Widow from a dig in the 80’s. Had to leave it behind when we moved home. 🙁

No – its being moved to a different hangar.

Hopefully then it’ll have its chance to fly soon. I wish them all the luck.

Hmmmmm beaten into submission by the CAA I suspect – you cant say that ARC didnt try very hard to achieve a UK based airworthy 190 but……..Makes the UK look a bit like a laughing stock though – was it that same CAA Dept (cant remember her name at the moment) that has grounded all of TFC’s G reg planes involved

Be careful what you slur at a personal level within the CAA Proplover, I suspect that you may not have the big picture.

The body are there to govern and direct and if they were wrong, do you not think that the owners of large collections would attempt to take legal action if they were having their noses put out of joint??

With regards to the above. The gentleman in question was not aircrew but just an aircraft rigger.Who simply went on this unfortunate air test.

    FIDO

“Just” a rigger. As in “Just” a pilot??? Or “Just” a bloke with no distinction because he did his job without recognition, unlike Wing Commander X, who bagged Jerries and got his name in all the papers?

I dislike the lack of recognition that the engineering side of the war got in comparison to the flyboys. It seems that you ought to wander around at a historic aircaft workshop FIDO so that you can see the work that goes on. Without the “simple erk (or) rigger” etc, we’d be looking at sheets of expensive metal stacked in a hangar.

    Cheers,

C6 (Engineer and Pilot)( but not simple).

    Kenneth,

Your post is an absolute joy! I’m going to save it and wheel it out when the moaning minnies start berating the aviation governing bodies! Priceless and a very sincere thank you.

    All the best

The Fighter Collection assisted with the inversion process and completed a couple of repairs at the same time. Would have been about 2006 IIRC.

Is there any official fallout of this thread? Searched google but couldn’t find any more up to date info. Is the wreckage in the US the real deal?

Isn’t there another across the other side of the pond that’s a high back?
