    Well money never seem to be an issue. They completely redesigned the F-16 and payed something like $110 miljoen a piece for them against $40 -$45 miljoen for an F-16.

    Agreed, but for now Amarican presence will be there. They have bullied Korea into taking the F-15K and will bullie Japan in taking the F/A-22 perhaps. That is my view, but I think there were better off designing a fighter for them selves.

    The question is not whether they can design a successor to the Eagle but if the Americans will let them. Remember they wanted to design the F-2 themselves but the Americans presured them into taking the basic Viper design with an American engine. So the successor will probably be the Raptor, they can certainly afford it, and the Americans want their unit cost to go down.

    I hate to say it but Germany are going to have to work hard to stay in the competition. I think the Dutch should pull through.
