Woomera, last week.
Coded as RA348 on fuselage but 701 on nose wheel?
Hi Christy
You should also try the ‘Military Aircrew’ section of http://www.pprune.org there are a lot of very knowledgeable people over there.
Good luck

GAF Nomad
I read in a mag that Gippsland Aeronautics were going to put the Nomad back into production, they had aquired the rights from Boeing Australia (?) as a very good deal to keep them in Australia.

I believe there is a Facebook group of ex Jag ground personnel – possibly from 41 or 6 Sqn. Could be worth getting in touch with them.
Cheers Paul
Best of luck to them I think they will find it harder than the Bucc because the Jag spares seem to have all gone in one direction and they are scarce and expensive, hopefully the forum will help
Where is the one place all of the Jag spares have gone to?

Since Christmas I have read;
Apache by Ed Macy
Eight Lives Down – about a British bomb disposal officer in Iraq
and now on,
Generation Kill – about 1st Recon USMC in Iraq, apparently there is a very good TV series of this book as well.

JDK,
Could this be the aircraft in question? On close look it says SNECMA ATAR on the fuselage under the fin so I’m guessing not. The picture is on top of an old chocolate tin.

I have been working on a few small things in my Jaguar, one of which was getting the internal placards back up to scratch after years of water and sun damage. This is what the radio quick ref chart looks like now and then a new one I am having made, the mistakes in ‘mill’ and ‘opps’ will be corrected in the final version, unfortunately an identical font match was not possible. Does anyone know the freq’s for Bruggen Approach or Clutch Radar?
Cheers Paul
Dave,
When you get the trailer made you should tow it around to my house and we can have a ‘Mini Cockpitfest in Oz’ for all the local forumites.

Looking at the Historic forum!
I notice there is at least one Jaguar in there as well – XX140, if anybody intends to give them a visit could you please PM me first as there may be the odd piece of use to me.
Thanks Paul
Hi Tony
Welcome, I look forward to reading about your Phantom exploits, checked the Corsair replica page – wish I could have one.
Cheers Paul
I am sailing…
I just watched the whole series a couple of weeks ago, very interesting and a real insight into the social fabric of the 1970’s and the RN – how things have changed in 30 years.

I have a photo in a book of a stripped down Wirraway (QE-R) being used to help extinguish oil well fires in Borneo towards the end of WW2.

There is quite a lot of information on the Australian War Memorial website about conservation of wartime documents for the general public, follow the link below.
