    Are those Russian WIGs?!

Anyone tried looking for ICBM bases in Russia? I tried the first regiment that deployed Topol-Ms, but couldn’t see anything that indicated there was an ICBM base there. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised? 🙂

As I understand it, the S-300s Russia is deploying to Belarus are systems being replaced by the S-400s, as part of the Moscow defense system?

And just across the cove (that would be Krashennininikova Cove) here’s Kamchatka shipyard- check out this Oscar II- it looks like she’s in the middle of refit! (you can zoom in more, of course- her port side Granit launchers are exposed it seems)

EDIT: another sub in drydock nearby

Here’s Ryabichy Submarine Base (Pacific Fleet)- 52.55’02.19” and 158.29’17.67”

Oscar IIs very visible at this altitude, I zoomed out a bit though so you could get a feel for the whole base.

There’s a whole mess of sunken ships just to the East- I mean a LOT.

    Yay me 🙂

The best place to hunt for Pacific Fleet ships is to go to NTI.org and look at their maps of Pacific Fleet naval facilities, I’m hunting away right now, though the pickings will be slimmer since the satellite coverage is a bit spottier.

    FOUND HER!!!

Admiral Lazarev is currently at Bolshoy Kamen, at the vicinity of Vostok Shipyard and Zvezda Shipyard!

Guys- look at Abrek Cove- 42.55’41.99 and 132.25’14.70

There’s what looks like a nav ship (no idea what kind) next to a big ship- but I have no idea what the big ship is. It’s got a big white dome at the front.

Another reason for the Velikiy being the one at Severomorsk is that both ex-Ushakov and Nakhimov have good reason to be at Severodvinsk- the former so they can figure out just how on Earth they’re going to scrap her, and the latter for her refit and upgrade. The Typhoon there is probably Dmitry Donskoy.

    Here’s the other one.. .

Where’s the one one that’s being scrapped?

The ex-Admiral Ushakov (it’s name was given to a Sovremenny) is going to be scrapped, I didn’t mean it’s being scrapped right now. 🙂

So one of them is Ushakov, waiting to be dismantled, but we don’t know which.

Cool- what’s the coordinates I should be looking at? Well, we can see the Pytor Velikiy, the Admiral Nakhihov (currently being upgraded) and the exAdmiral Ushakov (being scrapped). All that’s left is the Admiral Lazarev, which must be somewhere near Vladivostok, though not, apparently, where my sources from 2002 say it is.

I’ve been trying to find Admiral Lazarev (the Pacific Fleet Kirov-class) which last I heard was moored in Abrek Cove. I’m not sure if it’s there, however there are other seemingly military ships there. Anyone wanna take a look? It’s right next to Vladivostok (obviously)- due East. I’d link it, if I had the foggiest notion how.
