    RE: Iraq : who’s in?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-09-02 AT 10:33 PM (GMT)]Well I agree with the fact that the small European countries depend on the US way too much. It’s better to have a good neighbour (France) than a far friend who lives far away (US).

If there would be elections today in the Netherlands I’m sure the PvdA would return back to its normal status, and the LPF would probably lose 75% of its support among the people. The more traditional parties in Holland (CDA, D’66, VVD) probably support the American actions because they know that the LPF will make a crisis out if it if they won’t, and the majority partners look quite silly if they have to break up the gov’t after 6 weeks of governing. Anyway, I’m sure next year you’ll have re-elections in Holland, ending up with a gov’t between the PvdA, CDA and the VVD.

Actually allowing the LPF to join the gov’t wasn’t a stupid move, because they were so unprepared, they have lost all voters now. If you would do the same now in Belgium with the Vlaams Blok it will only strenghten them, because – unlike the LPF – they are very organised and ready to take over controll at all times.

To go back to the original topic. I think Britain has lost all all credibility now. Especially in the UN security council. But Blair is not stupid, he knows that Bush can not help him politically, unlike the European allies. If Bush could achieve an agreement through the EU, that would strenghten his position in his own country. The British population seem to be Euro-sceptics, but on the other hand, they rather chose the side of Europe than the US.

    RE: Iraq : who’s in?

I’ve seen it, the laughable Dutch gov’t tried to convince the parliament that actions outside the UN were justified. Anyway, this gov’t won’t make it to the end of the year. The LPF just wants to take revenge on the islam by backing America. As long as Germany and France are not convinced, a European support will stay out, at least that’s what our own PM said.

I don’t know what Holland is up to, but I think they try to undermine the EU-regulations and deals made long ago. Strange how one country can support another, while this other country threatens to invade your coasts.

RE: Downloading : how dangerous is it?

Do some providers punish people who download too much by slowing down their internetconnection? I think it happens a lot, and that’s the cause of my problem. Does anyone have experience with this?

RE: What can´t you stand about your country?

    1. Lack of chauvenism. Belgium scores 4th in the countries with best living standards, but still, people find nagging and badmouthing necessairy.
    2. Bureaucracy: with 8 gov’ts it’s becoming a little bit confusing.
    3. Political correctness
    4. The media, who contributes to the nagging and badmouthing.
    5. The Agusta A-109s 😀
    6. the Vlaams Blok
    7. the incompetent tree-hugger party (Agalev + Ecolo)
    8. thousands of Dutch who live here to avoid taxes and buy so much ground the local population can’t afford a newly build house anymore.
    9. the Royal family
    10. the communautary, regional, cultural and economical quarrels between the North and the South, initiated by indiviuals like Filip de Winter and José happart

    RE: Greetings from Belgium

Ahh Antwerp, juwel of western Europe :D. I fell in love with that city, and it’s only a 20 min drive from here. De groenplaats, the cathedral, city hall …

    RE: A Few Computer Questions

I’ll try to explain it very simple. A labtob is NOT made to play games, because the cooling-system can’t handle that much. I see you bought a Geforce 2 card, I guess you must have payed a lot for it, as the labtop-version is really expensive.

As for the two games, I had the same problem, especially with F-15. Maybe you should go to downloads.com and look for a patch. These games are leftovers from the 3Dfx-era, in the meanwhile, they went into banckrupty. Now everything is NVidia and Geforce.

Do you have a Geforce 2 MX or GTS? My brother bought a G-4 MX and it seems to work slower than my G-2 GTS.

Computers are never TOO fast, but after a while they are not compatible anymore with the old games.

Anyway, the only decent flightsim is Total Air War, already 4 years old.
