RE: Thank you note for Belgians.

I think these weapons took more lives than saved them. There was only one official costumer outside the EU who bought those weapons, the Mexican police, but the Belgian gov’t thwarted the deal, because they feared these weapons were not always going to be used against the ‘bad guys.’ The Majority of costumers are gangsters, terrorists, arms dealers … not something to be that proud on.

RE: There is no such thing as war on terrorism

Yeah, but burning down synagoges also happens in US, it’s bad. But in Belgium – like in any other democratic country – freedom of speach is still respected. The holocaust-denial-law is the only such law I can remember which really is so severe.

    RE: Another PLO victory

I had the question today on my oral exam history: what do you think about the current situation in Israel. What has changed all since the Oslo peace-talks etc. Such an easy question ! 😀 Damn, I was scared they were going to ask me about our complicated Belgian and European institutions :9 Ohh well, tomorrow we’ve got English, which is practically the same BS. Only this guy is more pro-PA (the other one was pro-Israel), so just change my opinion and I’ll get good grades. Isn’t school nice?

BTW, bad thing this attack has happened, both for Israel and the PA. But I don’t think that Arafat can be blamed for this, as it is Israel that is controlling those territories and not Arafat. A good thing BTW, EU has put Hamas and Al Aqsa on the list of dangerous terrorist organisations.

    RE: Political leaders

It was, before 1919. After WWII, it became official property of the Belgian state, which did not however prevent us from exploiting the country and enslavering the local population.

    >1. It became illegal to deny the holocaust
    >2. Mein Kampf was nearly banned

In Flanders, it is illegal to even think that the holocaust might be a bit exaggerated. Mein Kampf has been banned from public library or any other insitution. Our minister of cultural affairs, though a Flemmish nationalist, has demanded all books which contained opinions on holocaust-denial, to be removed from the market. Why doesn’t Israel write that down in their newspapers, instead of always whining on Belgium’s anti-semitism? This is however, not fair/democratic, as it is still legal to write or say that it was a good thing gipsy’s, the gay’s etc were also slaughtered by Hitler, but don’t say anything about the Jews …

    RE: bye bye Italy

That’s why Belgium had to lose. The goal made by Wilmots should have been accepted. Brazil is the better and stronger, no doubt, but if Belgium would have beaten Brazil, there wouldn’t be any favourites left. And face it: Ronalda and Rivaldo alone have more fan clubs than all European national teams put together :D.

    RE: You’ve mistaken Arthur….

    Quick reply :

Vortex, we don’t question your morals, and we are the first ones to admit we also made mistakes in the past. But what disturbs us the most is that the US makes a difference between countries like Saudi Arabia calling them allies and friends of peace and Iran which is a part of the axis of evil. Everyone will tell you that Iran is a far more democratic and progressive country than SA, still the US sees no difference between them. Europe does, although they are also greedy, as much as the Americans, they don’t judge nations because they are not westernised or not willing to coöperate. The EU has asked Iran to join the coalition of terror, they refused, which I can understand. But at the same time, Europe continues trade with Iran and does not threaten it. The US judges which countries are right and wrong, based on what criteria? It’s safe to say Europe doesn’t. We try to keep politics and economy seperrated.
