I am against this war, most of all (and I know this will cause some reactions) because the world opinion was left out, because the US doesn`t did do an effort to try to understand other countries opinion, like France and Russia. Maybe France was wrong saying it will boycot any UN-resolution, but that is also the US`s fault. The Bush-administration did not leave any space open for opposition against this war. I`m sure Clinton, though he would also go ahead with this war, would be able to convince France, Germany and Russia.

And ofcourse, we in Europe are angry because the US is making war in the name of God. This is not true.

I do have to admit though, that so far, the US kept its promises, and it`s not making a new colony out of Iraq. I`m glad SH is gone, but this war could have happened with a UN-resolution if the US would be a bit more carefull.

And I hope the conservative party will win here, most of all for domestic reasons which I won`t tell you cause It would take me more than two days :D. But, though I appreciate Belgium`s position in this war, our gov`t has made huge diplomatic mistakes thinking it can change the world on its own. The problem is that we have two green parties in our gov`t, which I hope will not rule a second time. The conservatives want to increase the defence spending. I support them.

You asked how the EU could have avoided this war. I answered it, now don`t say you just `agree` with me, cause that would make into the history books.

Cooper, I’m still waiting on your reply to my latest post. It took me more than half an hour, and let us continue this way, as this was the first discussion we started which did not end (yet? :D) in the usual lyric fights :D. Let us continue this way, I really enjoyed not being called a communist asshole for once.

Exactly Sauran. If I use history, than it is to prove a point I’m trying to make. Saying “you enjoyed 9/11” is something totally different, and had NOTHING to do with the whole thread. I find this disgusting. Maybe you guys have enjoyed 9/11, after all, how else can you find arguments? If it wasn’t of 9/11, you wouldn’t have much to say, would you. Apart from … you are a communist ofcourse.

    Poor, very poor.

Actually Sauran, this is very sad. If you can’t find any REAL arguments, than shut up. I hate this 9/11 whining. 9/11 is history, ok?

And I don’t have problems with GWB going to church. But if a European politician (even British) would dare to use the word God in a political statement, the public would ban him to the nuthouse.

I don`t think Britain will allow the US to go ahead with economical sanctions. You can`t take on France without punishing the whole EU, that`s just single market policy. If the US does take actions against France, the EU should respond with raising taxes on imported steel. The US needs the European economy mother than we need the US.

We shouldn’t give in to terorists. True, but neither should we to a bunch of warmongers eager to transform a whole region the way they want to see it. The current war in Iraq has drawn our attention away from the situation in Israel.

The problem with Israel is: how do you want Iraq to become a democracy and at the same time you approve everything Israel is doing to the Palestians, because their gov’t is so called democratic. Many Arab countries can’t accpet democracy as long as Israel considered to be one!Democracy is more than about fair elections: it’s also about human right issues etc. Nor the Arab states, nor Israel care about this.
