Ok Moggy, thanks for that. I posted a reply to it because it did make me angry as I felt it was totally unnecessary. It just really annoys me that someones sexuality is brought into this debate – it’s just pointless! 😡

Of course I don’t want heavy censoring to take place but all I was asking for was a bit of support, which you have very tactfully done by your last comment – Thank You. 🙂

The Green Mile, Tom Hanks is wonderful in it as is the really tall guy whose name escapes me at present!

That’s great. I wonder how long it would take to build something like that? PJ wants a remote controlled boat, so if he gets one eventually then I’ll be able to join him with a R/C Shark – superb! 😉

Corsair166b, what a great attitude you have! Thankfully there is over 4000 miles separating us!

Where are the moderators when they are needed?

Eddie Izzard is a very talanted comedian, who can speak more than two languages, so if he wants to try and achieve his goal in life to fly a Spitfire one day then who are we to stop him because of his sexuality, (or percieved sexuality) which has got NOTHING to do with his ability to learn how to fly more advanced types.

Well I have a nodding alligator and nodding great white shark sitting on top of my computer – call it inspiration for my assignments – to enable me to achieve my goal of qualifying as a nurse, and as my reward for my hard work I’m going to do a shark dive and see some alligators in their natural environment. 😀

Love the middle one Daz, I went to Chicago and bought a rather large 2ft soft toy of a shark, hubby did object to the 6ft alligator soft toy though. My family are still trying to convert me to liking cute things but sharks and alligators will always be my love.

SteveYoung, if you look on the website you will click on the link to animal exhibits so it tells you all about the different kinds of sharks in with the Great White. She is so cute though, well worth seeing.:) i only know about where to look for the info on this site as I have looked at it in depth!

If you think about it Daz, Keiko was used to real close human contact and in my opinion was treated kinda like a ‘pet’. Ok Orca’s would be massive pets but think of the training he had whilst in captivity, being hand fed etc. To then be released in the wild after I think being in captivity for 15-20 years he was really set up to fall. The wild was just a too foreign envirnment for him to be in. It angered me that he was released as I didn’t think it would be successful, but it angered me more that he was captured in the first place. 😡

The Great White though is being fed via a pole, just whilst she (he?) is getting used to the new environment and it allows them to do discrete checks. As you rightfully said she does have other snacking opportunties on offer if she so desires! It time she will be fed more naturally from what I can gather.

It’s great though to chat with someone that shares an interest in these creatures, I love your home built 4ft model of one though – how did you do it? 🙂

I think Daz if she gets too big then they will release her back into the wild. I did sit and read all the interviews and info regarding the shark, so I could have imagined that is what I read, in regards to releasing her back into the wild! 😀

The ‘tank’ that she is in is vast so i really wonder whether she will grow out of it, and if Great Whites follow the trend of other sharks I don’t think that they are particularly fast growers so she should remain there a long time. The people that work there really appear to love what they do, it was great to read that they do not give any of their exhibit inhabitants names (except for the sea otters? as its part of their training) as they feel that it makes the sharks etc look like pets and they are not, and they are not treated as such either.

Well, if only I could write assignments like this for my nursing course! 🙁 (still feeling down because I now need the full 24 hours in a day to get all of my work done! 🙂 )

oh yeah, needed cheeering up – failed two of my nursing assignments so yeah not a happy bunny (or snappy snaps which is more my style! 😀 )

She looks great doesn’t she? From the reports she is settling in well, so they don’t feel the need to do daily updates anymore.
