Sounds like a good idea. I guess this Minnesota Johnson could probably supply some historical stuff 🙂

Not quite as fancy but a buddy and I are rolling in on a low bogey in a couple of Spit Vs in the online multiplayer flight sim Aces High.
It’s a good way for a Spit fanatic to pretend anyway 🙂
Dan
Like so? From Spitfire in Action
Dan
Wonder what’s left of the Spit 18 from 60 Squadron?

Quoting:
“Aircraft currently under restoration include a Hawker Hurricane, a Supermarine Seafire,”
What Seafire? Is that the fuselage hanging up?
Dan
Good to hear on both acounts 🙂
Dan
Yep, the more photos the better 🙂

I havn’t seen the published article yet but I am looking forward to reading it.
Mark (my words 🙂 )
I’d like to see it too 🙂

Wow! Good eyes Laurent 🙂 Tanking Laurent’s observations a step further. It looks like there are 3 stripes of the same color as the tail which makes it 486th Bomb Group.
If I’m wrong and it’s only two stripes it might be 447th but they had two green stripes. Those look the same shade as the tail and it looks like three stripes so I’d bet 486th

Beautiful shot. 41 Sqn. Now won’t that look nice next to my 41 Sqn Mk. XIV RM797….
I want to see Spit XII EN224 EB-L in flight with your RM797 EB-E. That would be Spit nirvana for me 🙂
Dan
Thanks Daz,
She was wearing that scheme at the 41 Squadron reunion in 86 when I was lucky enough to get in the cockpit 🙂
Dan
Most definately. It makes them bigger then life in some way. Thanks for posting the additional images.
I know I’ve seen some he did of some RAAF pilots in the Far East too but I can’t for the life of me remember where I saw them.
Dan
Great stuff as always Snapper.
Dan
Something really powerful about those portraits. Thanks for posting them

41 Squadron in 43 had a “hack” Spitfire Vb while it was flying XIIs. It was AA718 EB-L.
It was used for local orientation flights etc. It apparently survived the war and ended up with the French AF postwar
The 350th FG USAAF in the MTO had locally modified 2 seat Hurri IIs for each of the three squadrons. The 347th of the 350th had a 109G for a while too.
