Hi All, We are looking for some more Lancaster Undercarriage hydraulic rams. As used to raise and lower the U/C.
We have the set fitted to the lancaster but require spares and need to get them overhauled and/or parts replaced. If anyone has any or knows of any please do get in touch either by pm or andrew@lincsaviation.co.uk
If I am not mistaken did not the BBMF have a similar problem during the major of their lady ??.
I assume you have tried them for suggestions ?.
Then of course their is the obvious IWM Duxford thier machine is pristine if they would do a trade on parts or even they may have surplus.
The RAF Museum may have some stuff
Finally the Canadians do seem to have a big pile of spares
I assume your post means you probably have tried all the above without success ??. I am therefore currently out of ideas but trying to think is the Lincoln Gear any assistance as there are one of two lurking about still.I know
the Shackleton gear is a good bit chunkier.
Only thing Lancaster we have are some arm rests ,some drawings and photo’s of the Canadian Lancs being converted to Lancastrians.

If my currency converter is working right £14,ooo is I suppose a damn good price just how much would it costs to transport it.
Mike E
might be me but something about the Hurricane one does not look right I cant put my finger on it.But to me if it has been in the ground the stamps on the castings on one side have faded and gone on one side but are pristine and one slightly out of line on the other.Or perhaps its just my view of it on the screen ??.
Anyway they seem a lot of money .

We have a Westland Whirlwind Fighter that we would love to locate in the River Severn we know where it went into the water but not where it is now.
Do you fancy a challenge ????
There are also about 5 around Jersey (St Brelaides Bay) and Sark and 1 off Guernsey.

Schedule of Parts A.P
If anyone has the schedule of parts handy for the T11/T22/T55 could you please dig out the part numbers for the brake components in particular brake bags and linings etc.
This will enable us to pick out what we need from a source of mixed parts.

Rectangular mirror
The rectangualr one is easy to get as its identical to a reproduction that’s made for kit cars and I think its for modern or repro Morgans.
We are looking at moulding some round ones its just the mirror bit that’s causing us bother getting the right size mirror glass.
If you are already set up to do them and the price is reasonable and not lottery numbers Tony put us down for three.

(don’t call me Shirley)
Lucky then that (from out of nowhere), the organisers came up with the idea of the £58,000 a pop replica Spitfires. They’ll only fly if the wind gets a bit unruly.
I can’t see how anything could go wrong
Moggy
Someone is ripping someone off i can get two for that price !!!!!!!!
Just call me Shirley :diablo::diablo::diablo:
Participation
Just to start off 2013 you can put us down for participating with a WW2 warbird

I do not wish to be unkind but Replica is very pushing it more like half size loose scale is nearer the mark.
In reality it bears very little in relation to the real thing as its not true to any scale and fits in with the use of AA-1 wings as has been said.I think it used a pair of Lycoming engines but I may be wrong and thats about it .unlike the scale Mosquito that at least does try very hard to be a representation of the original in a smaller format or the scale Spitfires they do look a lot more like the original article.
I would say 3 out of ten for effort on this one being generous and -2 for accuracy.
I am not sure if it actually has flown or not I think I read or was told by someone that it was a sod to handle. Not sure if that was on the ground in the air or both.

Have you tried the online catelogue of what the IWM hold we have found real gems and got all the Form 700’s and manuals from that source for one of our aircraft also the RAFM hold a bit of stuff.
The other option could be Air Atlantique Heriatge or whatever they currently call themselves or the guys at Kemble and North Weald they all operate and or own Canberra’s in flying and restoration to flight status.
If you get stuck with the above let me know and I will dig a couple of contacts.I used to work at Woodford on the line on 748 and other types and the project the guys are doing at Liverpool deserves the manuals etc if anyone does and we will assist if possible also with transport if need be of what you have as we a have a lot of members and contacts around the UK.And a couple of guys who transit up and down the country frequently

We have got the ice cold hose pipe ready for when he emerges !!!!!!
Now then where’s that green paint gone ??????:diablo::diablo::diablo::diablo:
Now then Mark 12 I have told you dont call me Shirley
If you shop around there are firms that do H section aluminium but you have to trim it down and also tweak it in a fly press along the edge to get the angle of the outer face.
I am experimenting with some samples at the moment but not got it right as yet. Will let you know if I do as Jason has already asked us for help on it.
The only other alternative is as you are not flying and you cannot see all the section when its in situ is to make up two U channel sections and tweak one to the profile you need then rivet them together down the centre line the join and seem when in place cannot be seen .
