10-2 wouldn’t suffice for me. That means prison. 12-0 plus forensic plus other evidence.
Confessions are no good at all, that could very well be “Suicide by Police”, which has happened a few times before. And of course, some confessions are “Unsafe” because the Police kicked it out of them. Although certain IRA Bombers were actually guilty, the fact that the Police used such tactics allowed that chink of light.

I don’t see why the just should pay for the continued upkeep of the unjust but I’m not wholly comfortable with the naivety of anyone who thinks there’s such a thing as absolute proof of guilt to the point where taking life is entirely justified.

There are only appeals because there is a shred of doubt. A window through which a slimeball can get light through. The criminal can also get light through.
The OP stated that there was absolutely no doubt. Thus, no chink of light for an appeal.
And, the victims family should choose the method, it’s part of the healing process. Methods would have to be limited of course, or it could get ungentlemanly. My wife is a do-gooder too, her many quals. and her many many years work give her credence. She’d throw the switch on some of the B*******s we keep warm/fed/watered/Skyed/clothed.

I’m sure he did not commit your country without independent proof or intelligence. If he didn’t have non-US supplied proof, your country has far bigger defense troubles than the retirement of obsolete aircraft
