So, where do the spotters hang out at Ringway these days then?

I presume all outdoor terraces are shut?

If I ever get up there on a weekend, I may show my mug. Brummy git will recognise me. Don’t tell me he still wears a flasher mac.
    John Theobald, he still around?
Peter Hardy, wrote a book (All typed by him) called “Directions to aerodromes in Britain”. It covered every aerodrome, garage with a fuse in the loft, bedrooms with “Majority of airframe can be found on the wardrobe” etc.
    I’ve still got mine somewhere.

I didn’t think VGA supported full res Blu Ray?

No, I think you misread my meanings. At thend of the day, I wanted to run Films or music from PC to telly.
I gave up. Got a refund of cabling.

I tried every possible method to get what I wanted. Surfed several websites, 99% of which said it is plug and play, just press F10 to throw the image to the other screen etc. or use “Set up TV as a 2nd monitor” mode.
All I could get on the big telly was my desktop backround photo with no icons. Yes, I unticked the box which says “Show my desktop on TV”.
When I did get it to show my PC screen on the big telly, it also changed my monitor res. to 1024 x 768 because it would only run in “Dual” mode. This was the only res. the TV would recognise, and is also what most of the websites suggested.
This was not the solution I wanted, having to change my res. back, and replace all the icons in correct order etc. was a total PITA.
Furthermore, I assumed my Graphics drivers must be yonks old. So I downloaded the latest.
BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, looking for the nv4_disp.dll file. I found 3 of these files, in different locations.
    Reloaded after BSD recovery, Same.
So, I restored the whole lot to a restore point from a fortnight ago, downloaded some older drivers from the Nvidia archive section, moved hte newer drivers in my “Ready to delete when I’m really sure directory” and all is well.
So, I reckon the latest Nvidia drivers are not compatible with the older drivers for the MOBO…does that sound right?
I don’t fancy updating mobo drivers. The situation is, the PC is stable and working..LEAVE IT BE!

I wrapped up the cabling as neat as I could, reboxed it, and was refunded by Maplins. Saga over.

    Yes RIP.
    We’ve all got one!

What else did he invent or patent?

Some years back there was a tribute program on the B&D Workmate. Maybe they will show it again.
Mr Director of B&D couldn’t believe his luck when Hickman displayed the workmate in the Boardroom. “A tool that every workman needs which doesn’t need a Motor”. They snapped his arm off for the copyright.

    Tridentman…
On your Dan Air pic, is that “THE” Brittania AW 707 parked in the overnight bay?

    I love the 1-11. A very under-rated machine.
It was built like a brick ship-house and if only the production line wasn’t allowed to die (And/or sent to Romania (Same thing)) a re-engined and re-designed (More machined structure instead of fabricated) version could well have served the slots now filled by A320/19/21.
Trouble is, building it so well made it very mandraulic and costly. It was thirsty too, hence Sales were not great.

I was talking to Phil just a couple of weeks ago, as it happens. As cheerful as ever. 🙂
They still turn up at the Viewing Park from time to time, although I do tend to bump into them more often at Heathrow for some reason.

Oh they were “different”, all right!

Phil Lines must be 75? Cheerful? Are we talking about the same bloke?
What are the names of the Deaf lads?

Somebody said we exploited the nations of the Empire.

Well, we educated them, controlled and Policed them, built their towns anc cities, and Railways. We bought all their goods for the going rate. We left all those nations in a far better state than we found them.
The fact that they haven’t got a clue how to manage without us, and that they can easily blame the previous owners for ruining it is listened to by certain people.
But when you go to some of these nations, you realise that the “Norm” is a bunch of bone-idle lazy ill-educted so-n-sos that truly believe that the world OWES them a living and they are quite prepared to sit on their ar5e all day waiting…….whilst on a mobile phone of course.

Bury Market, on a Saturday, for the finest Black Pudding in der velt.
Boiled Blood clots! With Mushy peas and Vinegar for the sour preference, or topped with Apple Chutney for the sweet toothed.
