Very nice James !
Hurricane was a one-off presented to Australia.
Very well handled forced landing. GH did a great job getting it down where he did. The machine is a pidgeon pair for his Honduran Corsair. The Ryan will will be rebuilt
What a wonderful woman and what a fantastic life. RIP Molly
Kuno, Yes, that would be Bernard……….
The Fury looks a whole lot different than it did last time I saw it at Moree……. Beautiful
Well for we Aussies we fly half way around the world to be there. Same for the Kiwis. Its a Mecca for warbird enthusiasts and long may it continue.
Thanks Pete1. Just wondering as he was appointed to BBMF after the Grob display was terminated. Had a long series of talks with him at the first Old Sarum show and he was very, very keen to gain that spot. Really nice guy and a better representative for the RAF you could not meet.
Is that for colours of the day flares? On another note, does anyone know if that was Andy Preece flying the Hurricane?
Aeronut………. It’s already happening.
Yes, we went there and there is also a Spitfire in paving stones. “Accidentally” managed to get through the barbed wire and gate to walk out on the slipway behind some townhouses. Having a slight connection to Australia’s only currently flying Spitfires and although the building we saw was 1938, I felt quite privileged to actually be there and hope to visit again this year. Does anyone have any historical pics of the building we saw?
Perhaps I am wrong but I was taken to the site by my great mate Trevor Graham who knows my love of history. Certainly the building – I now think part of the Siva Group – exhibits art deco aspects in the same manner as that in the photograph including what appears to be a type of guardhouse near the Hazel Road laneway entrance. The factory sawtooth roof is still there together with the doors fronting the Itchen all hidden behind materials silos and temporary structures plus piles of other pallets etc. Perhaps it is not part of that which formed the original structures in the early days but do these buildings form part of what was Supermarine? If so they are in my humble view items that should be preserved somehow. I know you cannot keep everything but……….
Would be nice at Duxford…..
And you can still see some of the original buildings on the riverside. What a great pity that they have not been purchased, restored and Solent Sky rehoused there…..
Beautiful. Any guesses as to the last time one of these was heard?
