I agree having been “done” myself in the past! there whould be some online site that records these pieces, otherwise people just keep getting ripped off, they still have a value but not what they often sell for as “originals” he was a talented man and as time goes on they are going to be hard to spot!
I totally agree. Perhaps we should start a topic where anyone who has some of Alf Bat’s creations can post photos. I will set one up later if enough people are interested? It would certainly put a halt to all of the initial excitement when one of his pieces turns up on ebay. It will hopefully stop buyers from being duped in the future. 🙂
Sorry to here about the Boar emblem/art..
I tried the search for the keywords you mentioned and I can’t find anything. Any chance you can post a link?
Thanks
Think I saw this at Shoreham Aeromart back in the late 80’s along with some other bits including a running Boar that the seller mentioned. But they turned out to be fakes.

Hi, do you have any recollection as to why these relics turned out to be fake. What was the background story? It’s quite important that I can get to the bottom of this. Are you 100% positive that they are the same ones. Incidentally the seller mentions he has the running boar emblem also. 🙂

I would have thought that the photographer , who after all has copyright and knowledge of distribution, might have steered proceedings a bit more effectively.
Why would he? Double paycheck just in time for Christmas…. 😉
It’s no different in the art world. Some of the world’s greatest paintings, sculptures and historical artifacts will never again be seen by the public. Hard to say why such collectors value such privacy…particularly hard because few if any of us can speak for them.
Same with period WW2 photographs….:)

I’ve heard that rumour also Steve, but where could they be hiding. Are there any areas of the archives in the UK that are yet to be trawled? What a find they would be. 🙂
Hmmmm, well I know what one I think seems like the more appropriate design to be added by the RAF…. There was me thinking the addition of the aircrafts former unit was a nice chivalric touch… 😀
Thanks Augsberg PM sent. 😎
Thanks Peter. An interesting homage to the aircrafts former unit added to the tail fin by the RAF whilst flying as DG200 it seems. 🙂
Apologies for resurrecting this topic, but I have the same request.
Thanks, 🙂
