Again, well done you guys for moving and housing the Prince. Just seen it’s in Aeroplane Monthly.

Except the Jetstream Club dismantled and moved it 😉 Though as you say big thanks for storing in for us until we can get to work on it 😀

I’m sure thats the old T.4 (VP293) cockpit from Flambards, Helston. If it is then someone has commited sacriledge by removing the cockpit from the forward fusalage which was complete internally. You used to enter at the front spar and exit through the side of the nose.

The Flambards machine is Avro Shackleton T.4 WG511 and still very much in situ. 😉

Its a question of ownership. ‘ZP is owned by the Marriot not us.

We just do what we can to help look after her.

    Thanks Jon

Good on you. Any reason for that choice of registration and why the change from the original one?

I’m coming up to Liverpool later today (well Parkgate on the Wirral actually) and couldn’t find it last time I looked so wondered if it was there still.

    Wicked Willip :diablo:

Simple – this one hides the dirt better! Not sure why this specific scheme was chosen as before my time but needless to say the original no doubt flew out of Speke.

If you can find the old terminal then she is sat right in front. Then of course round the back is our toys 😀

Parkgate – Go to Nicholls for its world famous homemade ice cream! I can recommend the Hazelnut 🙂

What was the story behind the replica Rapide, which was on display at Speke.

Who built it, where did any original parts come from and what eventually happened to it if it’s not still there?

    Wicked Willip :diablo:

    Ah good old G-ANZP 🙂

Is still there unless someone has moved it since last Sunday!

100% fake. Was built to a combination of original drawings/construction techniques and some modern day concessions. Put together by a local chap Mike Davey. Got to say she does look the business!

She is hard to maintain though as at times people dont respect her and being fabric covered living outside does no favours either. A favourite one for hotel guests is climb all over her to peer inside, hence why most the exhaust stacks have been broken off and countless holes put in the fabric…….

We do what we can to try and keep her looking reasonable – yes silver gaff tape has provided a few wing repairs. 😉 Best we can do unless someone is prepared to come and show us how to do fabric repairs?! 😀

If I can help in the simulator department Mark, please don’t hesitate to yell.

And congrats on the award – certainly well deserved!!

    Roy.

Or we are prepared to swap him on long term loan for one of those cranes to help with the Brit 😀 (I am only kidding Roy 😛 )

    Congrats on the award!

Freddie Laker used “Skytrain” not Skyways Coach Air.

And even then that only came in when operating DC10’s!

No and that is the injustice of it.

No offence to the museums that have them but neither the RAFM or the IWM have one which seems odd compared to the multiples of other airframes they have?

    curlyboy

Quick search on the internet suggests that the FR.5 at Tangmere is owned by the RAFM and is on loan…

I have some pictures and drawings and will dig them out. This ex Belgian Air Force example has a non standard sofa in it now! Note the wall coverings are similar/same as RAF.
    Cheers

Interesting to note the similarities with what is left in G-AMLZ. Though once below the line of windows any reference material is long gone. At a guess it was wood panelled based on what is still there on the cockpit bulkhead.

How about the interior of a Prince? 😀 Maybe one that was executive transport with Shell at some point in the past….. 😉
