Lindsay Wise worked at Vickers Hurn and was the resident maintenance inspector for the ANA Viscounts. You can probably contact him for information through the Airways Museum association.
You may be right, I am not the expert! Interestingly, G-AWXX was also owned by the Sykes Group Co. of Huddersfield. According to G-INFO, G-AYNC is owned by two owners in London, so maybe it does still exist?:confused:
Cannot trace that it is preserved, but David Burke would know wouldn’t he?:D The aircraft was c/n WA739 and presumably one of the 20 Mk. 60’s that Westlands produced for the civilian market.
You have exposed our secret! No, actually I don’t know, the airport is not far from me and I have never visited it, however it is definately on my list this year for a visit, so will let you know, if no one is able!:)
One month to the day it had its mishap, the Turbo Dak flies out! A team of six engineers toiled under arduous conditions to repair the undercarriage and fit replacement engines. Rescue faciliated by Twin Otter.:)
