    Try this link and story.
    http://www.ipmstoronto.com/articles/aircraft/gannet/Index.htm

At the bottom of the article. If it is correct, then it was Shorts that did the one-off mod, but the A/C didn’t quite get to the Falklands. Must have been quite a sight, if it is real….I don’t trust everything I find on the internet.

Hi Chris, 10 out of 10 for locating the story! Enough ‘facts’ to make it sound plausible but still begs the question, did it happen?

By Shorts? And where would the RN find a current float pilot?

My story covers this and they obtained a crew from retired personnel. I suggest Shorts may still have had the expertise to complete this assignment, don’t forget it was a time of ‘war’ and problems needed to be solved a.s.a.p.

Were these to have been new build, or conversions of existing airframes? ;)Presumably they would have had to recover all the retired Gannet airframes from the various museums and private collectors, get them all back up to airworthy status, find some flight-ready crews, then bolt on some new build floats and do a couple of test flights……before somehow getting them all the way to the South Atlantic in a hurry – or were they going to bolt on an air -to-air refuelling probe too..!!!Paul F

Getting warmer to my ‘story’. My story says it was a one off and had refuelling capability!

There we are! Getting closer to the truth. Wouldn’t the FAA have some regulations about advising change of ownership in a matter of weeks not years?

I thought this was a good photo taken in the US. Still ferreting for info!

Great view of the planes tonight, well they weren’t too far away! Hope you U.K. viewers get your rally/snooker viewing preferences in the correct order. Check the criticism that Eurosport are getting on the their rally forum!:D

Added, you may not actually see any rally tonight as the stage was cancelled due to security concerns in the area.

The Amjet Corporation imported her into the USA from Bournemouth in the early 1990s, so I presume they were its owners before it changed hands via Courtesy.

Can’t recall the name of the company who had her for sale, don’t think it was Amjet though. No idea who owns her now or even where she is.Roy.

I asked the question because Amjet is the owner of record unless anyone knows better?

The last time she was up for sale, I called the vendor in the USA only to be told she had been sold. Roy.

So was Amjet the seller then or the owner now?
