Ditto! I hope it will be a C1K and would be unbelievably happy if it was XV108 saved!
I was just about to say the airways isn’t in any of those photos!
I am currently on the Kingston University/KLM UK course and was sat in the airways earlier having lunch!
As previously said, google maps is a good comparison to modern times.
2 of KLM’s hangars are slap bang in the middle of the original photo now! And the big building to the far right (the one closest to us) is their other hangar
Is there any more news on the next arrivals?
And which are getting preserved? I know one is going to cosford later this year….see here: http://www.vc10.net/news.html and I understand one is going to Brunty.
It would be nice to get a list of when they are all due in…………..
Personally, I don’t care where they go, as long as they’re not all scrapped!
Oh right, that’s interesting!
Which a/c are having majors now? I guess they will be the last operational planes?? Would I be right in thinking the C1K’s are being retired first? And why are they all bar 2 (??) going to be scrapped? Surely there are museums willing to take them on……I would if I have some space lol
I spy three mistooks too lol
After the new defence cuts, the entire VC10 fleet may be out of service by 2013.
There is a nasty last pic of ‘807 on GJD’s website……

Think a few more trips to Brize are in order!
Wow, she does look like a tart 😉 When was that pagen? And what was done? Is she due another major?
Really hope she’s kept at the end of RAF life!
Lovely, thanks for the info! Glad to hear it! Don’t suppose you have any ‘inside info’ on XV108 by any chance? Whats its likely fate?
Top man! Spot on, just what I wanted!
Thanks alot
Andy
I can only assume that the photographer of this photo is mistaken:
Saying 808 is now at Bruntingthorpe to be broken? I thought it was going to cosford?
That looks like it is going to be a cracking documentary when it is done! Well done!
Did you mean XV109?
Who can I speak to about trying to get hold of a couple on mementos from 807?
That plane was the first and last plane my Grandfather flew as captain and was his favourite VC10!
Any idea which will be staying alive? Any others likely to be heading towards museums? Duxford taking an RAF example? Brooklands adding to their collection? Norwich taking a second RAF jet to accompany their Nimrod?
I’d love to see a Concorde taxiing or flying again! I love under Heathrow’s holding pattern area and saw the Concorde may times here. Got up to Heathrow to see the old gal take off an land a few times too…….what an unforgettable noise that made!
I think if they did taxiing of it in the same style Bruntingthorpe do, you wouldn’t be able to use all 4 of those RR Olympus engines without blowing everyones eardrums!
I’m backing whatever the garlic munchers do with their Delta wing beasts!
