Interesting there are people willing to spend millions hauling P38s out of the Greenland ice when there is one sitting on a Welsh beach. Mark One Partners and The RAF Museum have proved beyond doubt what can be achieved with an airframe recovered from a hostile saltwater environment. The infrastructure is in place to salvage and conserve this Lightning. Meanwhile the Cosford Poly Tunnels lie empty.
The photographer was Hugo Jaeger. He worked for Life magazine before America’s entry into the war. He was responsible for some extraordinary colour images of prewar Nazi Germany and the war in Poland. Many of his pictures survived because he apparently buried the negatives in a jam jar and reprinted them in the 70s. Much of his work is scattered uncredited across the web.
Good to hear from you sir and thank you for your service ! Still gets foggy around here !
The Orchard in Ruislip as frequented by Northolt personnel, which displays a rather nice scale Spitfire in the front garden
And to you sir

Superb ! Well done all.
Thanks for sharing the images ! I think that’s a very atmospheric sequence. How to make Nottinghamshire look like Arizona !
Thanks guys all the best to you !
Of course not forgetting the splendid example at Coventry !
This is great news ! Wonder if the Javelin will be flown in like the Meteor T7 delivery ? If she goes indoors that will only leave the Yorkshire Air Museum example outdoors at least in the UK….
More info on the Indian 109 at the 109 Lair website. Although not updated since 2008 some great pictures of the 109 as found. On the walkaround section it is listed as wnr 4034.
Some fascinating detail to be seen. Note the overspray on the undercarriage from the newly applied colour underneath the aeroplane, to replace the previous black scheme. Its a slightly odd shade so one wonders if the paint was locally sourced ?
I am led to believe that the French Dornier 17 parts are heading to Cosford
