Just a correction for your records – she’s a Canadian Forces Hornet

    James

Another small correction, is a Tu-95MS “BEAR-H” bomber. This photo appeared in the 1987 edition of “Soviet Military Power”, i think.

Iraqi Mi-24 Hind-D captured on 1991 war. I´m not shure if the photo on the tarmac without rotors and wings is from the same machine. No machine gun on the nose. ¿Numeral and iraqi national green triangle censored?

transport types seem to soilder on for years and years dont they….i may be wrong but wasnt the il-76 designed to replace the an-12. like the an-124 was designed to replace the an-22…i did like the an-70, its a great shame that development on new russian and ukrainian aircraft have slowed [or stopped] due to lack of funds…saying that its nice to see the old an-12s and an-22s still flying…..what was or will be made to replace the an-24/26. was it the an-74 ????.
can enyone tell me how meny an-22s are left in russian or ukrainian air force service these days.

by the way i love this photo…how meny an-22s where painted in this ????. 🙂

The An-22. My favourite russian transport aircraft… This was the only camouflated example. If you are interessed, a nice video in russian exist about the An-22. Very nice landing and taxi of the camouflated example.

nothing else on the phantom and firebar incedent…another incedent i can remember was the su-15 and p-3 orion collition. apparently a flagon intercepted a p-3 orion over the baltic, the pilot of the flagon got abit carried away and got too close to the p-3 and clipped the wing or tailplane. both aircraft thankfully returned to base ok, though both aircraft was damaged. has enyone have more imfo on this….
im not sure about mig-17s but im sure the soviets kept mig-21s in storage or reserve for point defence. the RAF equiped some of there hawk trainers with a cannon pod and sindwinders in the 80s for emergency air defence, they even painted them air defence grey….i think even today the russian airforce keep a large number of mig-23s in storage….just in case….

Sorry but i think yo´re wrong. The P-3 incident was a Norwegian P-3 and a Su-27 Flanker. The Flanker pilot aproximed his plane too close and his wingtip collied and disintegrated one of the Orions propellers. Despite of this the two planes returned safely to their respective bases. Exist photos taken from the Orion.

The way I see it, only the bottom of the radome is painted white due to continuation of the camouflage pattern. Still I wonder why did they overpaint the radome.. A very strange thing to do..

Others posibilities: A reparation of small holes (¿shooted when landing on Iran?)

Repairing some light burns. Perhaps a refuelling accident.

    Debris damage from a blast.

I enclose a photo of a iranian black nosed fencer. Note diferent model. No fences in wings.

    Regards from Spain.

Very thank you for the shot. In fact now I remember it. Published in AFM years ago i think. In my modest opinion the reason of the nose painting is repair some little damage on the radome. Note only a portion of the radome is painted on green, not all the radome. But is just an opinion.

At least one IRIAF Fencer (3-6857) has radome painted over by camouflage colors. Wonder why..

Do you had any photo? I never see this.

The Su-24 not only fly, its a great plane. About the iranians, the planes from the second bach” adquired from Russia seems have black radomes. White radomes are all ex-iraqi.
