Sorry that you seem to have interpreted both responses as being antagonistic, which I am sure they were not.
My £5 remark was meant to be useful, as it was the only one of your list I could find for sale. But it seems you have been doing research anyway, so you actually already had a reasonable idea of value, yes ?
I guess if a couple of lines on a forum have finally punctured your enthusiasm for old aircraft, it must have been pretty much over anyway. It is a shame your Meteor went overseas, always discouraging for the restorers and volunteers.
The forum needs all the input and supporters it can find right now. There would be no point in chasing people off, by being deliberately snarky.
There is a Napier Eland brochure on Ebay, buy it now – £5.00.
I would guess that your collection is worth a small fortune, very small indeed
Hi Karl, great to hear from you. Really amazing work, you Canadians put our RAF museum Halifax to shame !
There is a team in the UK hoping to create a Wellington from a derelict Viking, so I guess you are showing the way.
Is that the video you meant to post, ie running a Bristol Hercules engine ?
This video is about the Canadian restoration project (also shows running engine)

bazv, you quite rightly surmise that the lack of traffic and ‘chatter’ makes the forum feel like a bit of a back-water at present. I would observe that as far as I can see ( apologies if I missed anything ) you do not appear to have started any new threads since August ( and beyond?) and the same can be said of many others also.
That is in no way an aggressive or accusatory observation ( you are a veteran high post-count contributor) but just underlining the reality that lively content which stimulates debate is the only way to make it ‘fly’. Responding to an existing thread is great, of course, but the forum does need a steady diet of ‘fresh meat’ !
Poor old Chuck , he did some sort of flying stuff, but I guess his own Historic Aviation activities were not really significant enough to attract much comment on this forum.
Tough crowd.
An incredible aviator, a history-maker and hugely courageous . His sometimes-robust opinions were quite challenging, but no question, he was a legend. On this particular thread, hopefully we can set aside the grumbly stuff, and leave that for another day.
What a survivor ! To an extent, you make your own luck, but to live the life he did, and die in bed at 97, that’s a pretty good run.
I suppose the point of the ‘leak’ is test the water, see what airframes people are most animated about, then tailor the subsequent ‘formal’ announcement to generate the fewest possible recriminations.
We all have to accept new beginnings. I was debited 4,500 posts, and sixteen years seniority !
Oh dear, how sad, never mind……..
Back home at DX today.

The shortcomings of the forum are obvious and we have protested at length. Key shot their own fox and broke something which did not need fixing.
However, there is no other dedicated UK- based forum ( with a global perspective) for discussion of historic aircraft, and for now, this is the best we can find. I personally have been a vociferous protester for the last year, but I think there is no longer any merit in constantly dwelling on the failings ( unless it is to raise a specific point which has some prospect of being improved) .
The fact is there are still many people interested in discussing all aspects of historic aircraft, and this is probably (despite everything) the best place. The only way to generate ‘critical mass’ is to have a good body of new threads posted, and for people to take the trouble to make lively responses . It is a group effort. All forums start from zero, but we are not on square one, we are up and running, and if enough contributors want it to work, it will. We all had a lovely ( and well deserved ) moan, but it is time to move on from the ‘ cor! ‘innit awful !’ mindset. A year is enough.
It might be helpful to work out where you are on the Kubler-Ross Forum Meltdown model, to find some personal resolution.

Just coming past now on way home. Overhead North Weald in about 6 minutes I would guess.
Spitfire PR 11 heading west just outside Denham ATZ. ( 12.15)
Peter T often drops in at Wellesbourne, Turweston, or White Waltham, so could turn up at any of those….( or another of course ! )
As I understand it, the airframe is owned by D.Walton.
Has he personally confirmed it is his intention that the Guppy be dismantled/scrapped, or is that conjecture ?
