There are some fonts on the net, if one looks very carefully (or nose around various forums)..

Yes, the best of luck. According to a report I read a long time ago, the technicians of Iraqi Airways who haven’t had that much to do during the last 13 years kept themselves up-to-shape by repeatedly dismantling and putting together a JT8 engine.

Wonder what has happened to the two simulators Iraqi Airways are still supposed to have – a 727-200 and a 737-200 according to the latest simulator census lists…

Apparently the four 737-800s operated by Britannia Sweden will get the modified livery carrying the titles of tour operator Fritidsresor/Star Tour, also owned by TUI. Star Tour is the international brand of Fritidsresor which is a bit of a mouthful to pronounce… Britannia Sweden is a Swedish airline using the AOC of its predecessor Transwede/Blue Scandinavia (radio callsign is still Bluescan), but the name isn’t very logical in my and many others’ opinions, so this respray might be a good move.

The left hand side of the fuselage will have a StarTour.no title, while the right hand side (as can be seen on the link above) has a Fritidsresor.se title. All planes are supposedly due for repaint before christmas, including the remaining one still carrying the old Britannia “lady-in-wheelchair” livery.

There will always business, governmental and diplomat travel on almost any route, especially on a service to a born-again country like Iraq.

The 737 mentioned would probably be ex-US Air 737-201 Advanced N239US? Seen here in Prague on delivery flight last month, photo by “Palo” from A.net:

How nice, maybe there’s hope for MyTravel Scandinavia’s A330 then as well… I thought they kept the Premiair livery in anticipation of the next name change which probably will come sooner or later. After all, it’s in fashion to change name every now and then to confuse the customer as much as possible… 😉

The 7J7 was, at least as far as I know, originally a proposal/wish from SAS for a Passenger Pleasing Plane, which was an idea from SAS’ manager in the 80’s, the charismatic Jan Carlzon. In his dreams, the PPP was an aircraft whose fuselage was a laying oval with two aisles. There is/was at least one model made of it in SAS colours about 1986-87, it looked like a 727 without the tail engine, and with UDF (un-ducted fan) engines, an idea which was in fashion at the time. Some people say that the J in ‘7J7’ stood for Jan as in Jan Carlzon. Other people claimed it stood for Japan from where several subcontractor companies came.

I think I have a sketch of it somewhere in a magazine or book, will have a look.

Wonder if there are any photos of it at Le Bourget somewhere… there would be, considering the number of books about the 707 and Pan Am that are around…

That I did not know anything at all about. Thanks very much for that piece of information, Skymonster!
