Hope its not full of americans!!!!
Lets hope they don’t have a cast full of Americans eh?, or the majority of the thick and stupid youth of today will think the yanks breached the dams and invented the ‘bouncing bomb’, like the other movie that told the world how they captured the ‘Enigma’ and helped us British out because we couldn’t do anything right!
Oh yeah after all the Americans did invent the flying didn’t they?, no wonder they don’t want display the aircraft below:D
sorry all got carried away!!
Hi Me-109E,
I was in Russia in 1991 and 1992 up in the Kola peninsuler.
I came : I saw: but I could not deal with anyone who was trustworthy. I have many pictures of Hurricanes, 109’s, Tomahawks, Ju 88. Aircraft I could touch and see for myself. In those early days everything was 1m dollars and in many respects I was too early do do sensible business.
Since then Jim Pierce and others have manged to work out a business relationship whereby some good and not so good deals have been accomplished. Many other people have failed.
The Hurricane B-GO was sold to three different buyers who, I believe, lost thousands of GBP’s in the process.
You have to find the contact you can trust in Russia (very difficult). Words are cheap over there. Life is cheap over there, and there are more worthless paper contracts than Tesco’s wrappings worldwide, over there.
Take good advise from anyone who will give it to you. Keep your money in an escrow type account and good luck.
He who dares ect………(Hey, the girls are pretty)
Thanks for that, appreciate your advice, if only id won the £88million euro millions the other week, and funny enough a Stirling would be right next to the 109E I want!!:D
Not sure what you mean by this?
Sorry Peter,
I didn’t mean to cause an upset by the ‘ah thats where this 109 is’
I was only saying what I hd been told 😮
You could try and recover this 109 from Berkshire.

Ah so this is where this 109 ended up.
Mod note – please do not cast aspersions! Post modified accordingly

You could try contacting Jim Pearce who has had experience with russian recoveries. Someone here might be able to provide you with contact info.
One other thing, if I had £225,000 I would buy the 109 (3523) Jim Pearce currently has for sale, is this price the reflection of the recovery cost??

Thanks Peter,
I have spoke to Jim, but I have never mentioned that I would like to carry out my own recoveries, I know that the Hunt brothers do the same thing, but I would feel very awkward in asking them how they go about it if you know what I mean, I just don’t want to ‘step on peoples toes’ 😮
thats what I meant! a Centaurus!!:D
Considering the ammount of engine problems the RNHF have had with Sea Fury VR930 would it be wise to fit a R3350 in instead? Purists would object but at least we would get too see the a/c more often.
Wise maybe, but the R3350 sounds awful compared to the Bristol Hercules!!
I put these pics on the ‘Spitfire pictures’ post but have had a couple of sneering replies about ‘junk and scrap metal’ together with farm machinery ect.
I suppose some people think that all the flying Spitfires were delivered whole and flyable, but most of us know that many of them started from scrap yards, fire dumps, playgrounds ect.
MA 764 is probably one of the most complete Spitfire digs ever, certainly as far as the firewall, cockpit, and a small area of fusalage behind the cockpit is concerned.
Even though there was some anguish amongst the recovery team to start with, this one was not taken away and broken up into collectors bits and pieces. It was all kept together and will, I’m told, form the basis for a new aeroplane in the years to come.
If that happens, then it will show what can be achieved by recoveries carried out with a mind to preserve and show the aeroplane to this and the next generation.
What a find, and it’s nice to see it hasn’t been broken up into collectors bits and pieces, is this the spit from the time team dig??
And Merlins or something equally interesting down mineshafts in cornwall.
I heard this story 12 years ago, and by a life guard at Perranporth beach, 2 weeks ago!
