Well, I did take it in the ’80’s I think…
Me-109, don’t forget to check out the DC-3 Mosquito Bombers at Marathon on the way down. Sugarloaf Key’s strip is worth a look in too. I found a really nice Beech 18 there on one of my visits. There used to be one or two WACO UPF-7’s joy riding at Key West. I flew a WACO YMF-5 from Marathon, but I think that’s long gone now. If you haven’t already done it, take the Caravan amphib from Key West to the Dry Tortugas.
Thanks for telling me that, I love the keys, so much to see, we always head out to Fort Jefferson (AMAZING!) and usually end up in the Rum Barrel in the evening after a stroll around Key West.
Will keep a look out for other aircraft stuff and will keep you informed 😀
Thanks for sharing, I’m heading to Keywest soon (again!) will take a look.
thanks
Nick
I also like the comment at the beginning that the spitfire was conceived on the eve of WW2 !
How did you know it was a dud? was the paint still wet on the swastica?
Yeah the paint was still wet and the rivet holes were closer to a Dornier-17:D really kicking myself Baz 😀
I almost paid £30 for this in 1993 at Popham Aerojumble and realised it was a ‘DUD’ 🙂
Me-109 E4 Cowling Piece
Thought id share these pics showing a small piece of yellow cowling
Its from Me-109 E4 (5095) JG/51 shot down 28-10-1940 (Lt. Knittel)

Great pictures, thanks for posting love the bit of 290!
Set to Record in HD and the series will be kept 🙂
thanks for posting this, I’m in Florida in August and was going to visit!
Amazing, well done chaps for putting an excellent programme together!:)
A well presented programme considering it was only 30 mins long, if it was the terrible show ‘X Factor’ it would have been on longer and the moaners in this thread might be a bit happier! 😀

I had to get rid of that piece of Spitfire panel.
No room to hang this! ;)[/QUO
WOW!!
By the way Hurdwick Farm is in Tavistock Devon not Dorset.
Personally, I think you have to be even sadder to paint them like this!!!!
