    Below is some more information about what happened to 5467.

    She was involved in an accident that took place on the 30th of August, 1943 at 15:30 hours GMT.

    It was a mid-air collision involving to Canadian-built Hawker Hurricanes of No. 1 RCAF) O.T.U. at Bagotville, Quebec. The accident occurred at Lake St. Germain, 8 miles east of St. Fulgence, Quebec.

    Hawker Hurricane Mk. XII s/n 5467 was being flown by 152894 P/O G. L. Mansfield

    Hawker Huricane Mk. XIIA s/n BW847 was being flown by 152901 P/O I. C. B. Kenyon

    The pair had been practicing formation flying prior to the accident. They collided in mid-air during unauthorized tail chasing at low altitude. Hurricane BW498 crashed near the shores of Lake St. Germain while Hurricane 5467 crashed and sank in the lake.

    The Court of Inquiry Summary 2052 – “Because of inexperience, while disobeying orders, collided at low altitude and crashed.”

    Conclusions of the A.I.B. – “Unauthorized practice of tail chasing and low flying by 2 pilots inexperienced on type.”
