So long as we realise the flaws of past New Towns. Creating a place where people grow with no future prospects of employment unless they move is one point where the ideal failed in one respect. MK itself on the peripheries has as you say a good standard of living. The town centre though leaves a lot to be desired in that it does not exist or at least was not obvious to my eye.
Mk and Stevenage are products of the past, with a little more imagination from town planners, better towns could be built.

Build new Towns.
Build new Towns like Milton Keynes, spread out the population and jobs. Then everyone will have a better quality of life , with minimal flooding risk. The answers simple, isn’t it. The alternative to this, is build on green belt land, which although seems an easy option, is asking for trouble. Anyhow, I guess most people don’t mind living in overcrowded Towns and cities, it’s a case of ” I don’t know any better, so I don’t mind.” Which is fine by me, but I certainly wont be around, when my standard of living drops to that level. London is in my opinion, a complete nightmare City, driving through there is extremely stress full, probably more so than being a jet fighter pilot. It’s a perfect example of an over developed City, and an old one at that. Suburbia is liable to go the same way, if green belt land is built on.

Anarchy rules in Britain.
With the continuing rise in crime in this country, Islam may be the answer, to return Britain back to sanity. In my opinion we need stronger laws to protect the general public, from the present anarchy we see around us. I have lost all faith in this countries slack criminal laws, something needs to be done, or else Britain is heading for disaster. Islamization of Europe, may well save us, from our own destruction, by removing the barriers around us, that prevent Britain from being a civilised country.

Don’t mess with mother Nature.
I have held back from replying to this thread for a time, but to be honest, I’ve never read such a load of bolloks.
Until you very brave Tree huggers get off your **** and go and tell the yanks, china, japan, india to stop doing what there doing you are pissing in the wind. I would love to save the planet, but i’ll be ****** if i’m doing it on my own.
Shout at them, make them stop, then I’ll listen.mick ellis
No need to worry mick, there isn’t much anyone can do to save the Planet from Global Warming. It’s to late now, we will just have to adapt to the weather as best we can. Hot parts of the world such as Africa, will become deserts eventually. Which means the British Isles will be welcoming many refugees from there, to live here. Believe it or not, Britain and some parts of Europe will still remain fairly cool, compared to Africa and the far east.
These are the facts about Global warming sadly, to little to late in my opinion.
Anyhow, don’t forget to pay your 21st century global taxes. 😀 😀

Hot works…..
A few days ago at work, I did some soldering in an office building. Before I started, I was required to fill out a hot works document. The area where I had to work was duly cordoned off, and a large ” DANGER ” warning sign was put up next to me. Finally 2 Fire extinguishers were placed in my vicinity, as a precaution. Just because I had to solder a few plug connectors onto some wires.
I can remember the days, when none of this would have been required, all this health and safety paraphernalia, certainly made me feel stressed. 😀 😀

Alan Freeman.
Yes, I remember listening to Alan Freemans ” Pick of the pops ,” every Sunday back in the sixties. That was quite an unforgettable experience, and one that was an icon of that time. That was when Radio was in it’s halcyon days, before these computer things came about. I still enjoy listening to the radio, but no one can replace Alan Freeman, for his distinct style of broadcasting. Of course there were other dj’s who were around during that era, and they also had their distinct style, but Alan Freeman made Sunday afternoons an exciting listening experience. Mixing opera with pop, certainly was a stimulating sound, and of course in mono, on a Valve medium wave radio. 😀 😀 😀

Religion and sociability.
I know some Muslims across the road where I live, and they are really nice people. Seems to me they are nice people, because their religious following encourages them to be that way. I also see the effect that modern society is having on some youngsters, who obviously don’t follow a Religion, the Hoods type come to mind. I think religion is a discipline that would benefit a lot of people, even from the sociability point of view. In our country these days, we hear about lonely people living in isolation. Islam is not just a religion, it’s a way of life.
Living in the modern computer age, people still need people. 🙂
